Belarusian (, ) is an East Slavic languages, East Slavic language. It is one of the two Languages of Belarus, official languages in Belarus, the other being Russian language, Russian. Siarhei Lahun (May 27, 1988 – April 22, 2011) was a Belarusian weightlifter. At the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships he ranked 10th in the 77 kg category, with a total of 342 kg. He competed in Weightlifting at the 2008 Summer Olympics Weightlifting competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China were held from August 9 to August 19. Competitions were conducted at the Beihang University Gymnasium. The medal records at the 2008 Games were heavily amended following a ... in the 77 kg division finishing tenth with 349 kg. This beat his previous personal best by 4 kg. He died in a car crash on 23 April 2011. In this crash, the lifter Yauheni Zharnasek (BLR) also suffered severe injuries. Siarhei Iosifavich Navumchyk (born January 15, 1961) is a Belarusian journalist and politician. Navumchyk was born in Pastavy into a family of a Soviet state serviceman. In 1984 he graduated from the journalism faculty of the Belarusian State University in Minsk. Navumchyk was member of the parliament of Belarus in 1990 - 1995 and one of the key members of the fraction of the Belarusian Popular Front. On April 12, 1995, Navumchyk, along with other members of the parliamentary opposition, held a hunger strike and sitting protest against the controversial referendum initiated by president Alexander Lukashenko. On March 26, 1996, Navumchyk fled from Belarus together with BPF party leader Zianon Pazniak. Syarhei Parsyukevich (, Siarhiej Parsiukievič; born 14 May 1967, in Vitebsk) is a Belarusian former businessman who was a political prisoner in 2008 following participation in a protest against a decree passed by President Alexander Lukashenko. During his 15-day detainment, he was allegedly beaten by a prison guard, who later accused him of being the attacker. After a short trial, Parsykevich was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for violence against a police officer and ordered to pay the guard Rbls 1.1 million, equal to about €325, in emotional damages. The case was met with international disdain, with the European Union, the U.S. Department of State, the Permanent Delegation of Norway to the OSCE and the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others, condemning the harsh sentence and undue process. Siarhei Rutenka, also Sergej Rutenka (; born 29 September 1981) is a Belarusian former professional handball player. Besides Belarusian citizenship, he also acquired Slovenian citizenship in 2003. In January 2008, he received the Spanish nationality. His preferred position was outside left, but he was also capable of playing as the pivot and playmaker.
