Shwetha Srivatsav
Shwetha Srivatsav is an Indian actress, known for her work in Kannada cinema and television. She began her career in theatre, before moving to television, where she received recognition for her role in T. N. Seetharam's ''Manvantara''. She subsequently went on to work in films. Having made her film debut with ''Mukha Mukhi'' (2006), she shot to fame with her performance in ''Simple Agi Ondh Love Story'' (2013). Her performance in '' Fair & Lovely'' (2014) won her the Filmfare Award South for Best Actress. Career Shwetha took part in a theatre workshop conducted by B. V. Karanth, circa 1997, when she was in class six. She was later cast in the television soap ''Jwalamukhi'', directed by T. N. Seetharam. Shwetha subsequently went on to appear in many telefilms and teleplays before being cast in Seetharam's ''Manvantara''. Filmfare Awards South
The Filmfare Awards South are annual awards that honour artistic and technical excellence in the Telugu cinema, Tamil cinema, Malayalam cinema and Kannada cinema. They are presented by ''Filmfare'' magazine of The Times Group. When it was introduced in 1954, the Filmfare Awards initially only recognized achievements in the Hindi cinema. In 1964 the awards were extended to Telugu language, Telugu, Tamil cinema, Tamil, Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali and Marathi cinema, Marathi languages. Malayalam cinema was included in the awards in 1967 and Kannada cinema followed in 1970. Prema Karanth
Prema Karanth (15 August 1936 – 29 October 2007) was an Indian theatre personality and the first-ever woman film-maker of Kannada cinema. She was the wife of B. V. Karanth and was known for the children's plays that she staged. She became the first ever woman director in Kannada cinema when she directed the film '' Phaniyamma'' (1983), which was based on a novel by M. K. Indira. Early life Prema Karanth was born in 1936 in Bhadravathi to a poor family. She lost her father Devoji Rao early. Her mother Kamalamma was diagnosed of tuberculosis and was not even allowed to touch her. Prema spent her early life at Sidlaghatta in the Kolar district and after her mother's death, she was brought up by her grandparents. After completing her schooling, she came to Bangalore to join the St. Teresa's convent as a teacher. She learnt typing and began to teach in primary schools.
