Show Me Center
The Show Me Center is a multi-purpose arena, located on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Since its opening in 1987, this joint project between the City of Cape Girardeau and the university annually hosts approximately 250 meeting room and 160 arena events as an entertainment, meeting, and gathering center. It replaced Houck Field House as the primary home of Southeast Missouri State's athletics teams. In 2015 the Show Me Center underwent a $5.62 million upgrade. The changes included: new scoreboards and shot clocks, a center-hung video display, new seating in the lower section, an improved audio system, and LED lighting above the court. The arena is also the home of the NCAA Division I Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks basketball teams, and seats 7,373 for such events. Southeast Missouri State University
Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) is a public university in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In addition to the main campus, the university has four regional campuses offering full degree programs and a secondary campus housing the Holland College of Arts and Media. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Enrolling nearly 12,000 students, Southeast offers more than 175 undergraduate degree programs and 75 graduate programs. Originally founded in 1873 as a normal school, the university has a traditional strength in teacher education. In recent years, the university's reputation and focus has shifted towards the arts, with the construction of the River Campus creating the state's only campus entirely dedicated to the visual and performing arts. Professional wrestling is a form of theater that revolves around staged wrestling matches. The mock combat is performed in a ring similar to the kind used in boxing, and the dramatic aspects of pro wrestling may be performed both in the ring or—as in televised wrestling shows—in backstage areas of the venue, in similar form to reality television. NCAA Women's Division II Basketball Championship
The NCAA Division II women's basketball tournament (officially styled as "Championship" instead of "Tournament") is an annual tournament to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) NCAA Division II, Division II women's college basketball national champion. Basketball was one of 12 women's sports added to the NCAA championship program for the 1981–82 school year, as the NCAA and Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) sought for sole governance of women's collegiate athletics. The AIAW continued to conduct its established championships; however, after a year of dual women's championships at the national level, the AIAW disbanded. The 2020 Elite Eight was due to be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, AL before the NCAA called off the tournament due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
