''Shotgun Messiah'' is the debut album by Swedish hard rock band Shotgun Messiah, released on 12 September 1989 through Relativity Records. The album is a remix of the album ''Welcome to Bop City'', released under the band's former name Kingpin. Described as "cocky, loud and rough", ''Shotgun Messiah'' would go on to sell almost 500,000 copies. The band toured North America in support the album. Track listing Personnel *Zinny J. Shotgun Messiah
Shotgun Messiah was a Swedish glam metal band from Skövde. The band was formed in 1985 by guitarist Harry Cody (musician), Harry Cody and bassist Tim Sköld, with singer Zinny J. Zan and drummer Stixx Galore taking part in their most commercially successful lineup. The band released three studio albums, ''Shotgun Messiah (album), Shotgun Messiah'', ''Second Coming (Shotgun Messiah album), Second Coming'' and ''Violent New Breed'', with Cody and Sköld being the only constant members of the band. Shotgun Messiah disbanded in 1993. Relativity Records
Relativity Records was an American record label founded by Barry Kobrin at the site of his vinyl record shop, Important Record Distributors (IRD) in metropolitan New York City. The IRD distribution name was later known as RED Distribution and again as RED Music. Relativity released music that covered a wide variety of musical genres. When it entered into a deal with Sony Music Entertainment, it became more known for its heavy metal and hip hop releases. Harry Cody (musician)
Harry Cody (born 13 October 1962) is a Swedish songwriter, composer, and guitarist. He was a founding member of the glam metal and industrial band Shotgun Messiah, before joining Coma and founding Das Cabal. He has recorded with Tom Waits, among others. Cody has composed scores for film and television commercials. Early life Cody was born in Surahammar and moved to Skövde at age seven. He grew up influenced by a variety of rock and roll guitar players such as Chuck Berry, Scotty Moore (Elvis Presley), and Eddie Van Halen, among others. After finishing school, Cody worked for Volvo, and also served in the Swedish army. He quit his job to focus on music. ''Welcome to Bop City'' is the first album from Swedish glam metal / hard rock band Kingpin, released in 1988 on the CMM (Club Mariann Music) label in Sweden and in 1989 on the Music For Nations label in the UK. The album was later remixed and released in 1989 under the band's new name Shotgun Messiah on Relativity Records in the US, charting respectably at #99 on Billboard and selling close to half a million copies. It is the band's only album with Easy Action / Zan Clan singer Zinny J. Zan on vocals, who joined after hearing the band's early demos. The album was re-released on CD in 2008 on the Italian label Time Warp Records.
