Shot (album)
''Shot'' is an album by the band The Jesus Lizard, its first release on Capitol Records. Some copies of the album were accompanied by a documentary titled "Sho(r)t". Production Impressed by his work on the album ''Houdini (album), Houdini'' by Melvins, the band hired producer Garth Richardson, GGGarth to record ''Shot''. Of note on the album is the very different production of David Yow's vocals, which are now much clearer and higher in the mix than on previous recordings. ''Shot'' is the first studio album by the band that was not recorded by Steve Albini. It has been widely held that Steve Albini refused to work with the band because they had signed to a major label, although Albini himself denied this in comments made to a review of the 2009 reissue of the Touch and Go Records, Touch and Go catalog that appears on the ''Paste Magazine'' web site. The Jesus Lizard
The Jesus Lizard is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 1987 in Austin, Texas by vocalist David Yow, guitarist Duane Denison and bassist David Wm. Sims. They relocated to Chicago, Illinois, in 1989, where they found kindred spirits in recording engineer Steve Albini and Touch and Go Records. With the addition of drummer Mac McNeilly, they began performing live and became "a leading noise rock band in the American independent underground music, underground…[who] turned out a series of independent records filled with scathing, disembowelling, guitar-driven pseudo-industrial rock, industrial noise." Garth Richardson
Garth "GGGarth" Richardson, (born ), is a Canadian record producer and sound engineer. He is the son of music producer Jack Richardson. He has worked with such musical acts as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Motley Crüe, Nickelback, Rage Against the Machine, L7, Mudvayne, Melvins, Biffy Clyro, Kittie, Shihad, 54-40, Hedley, and Rise Against. He co-founded the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver with producer Bob Ezrin and established his personal recording studio, the Farm, in Gibsons, British Columbia. He and five partners opened Fader Mountain Sound, a sound studio and rehearsal space that took over the space formerly occupied by the famed Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver. ''Perfect Sound Forever'' (established 1995) is one of the longest-running online-only music magazines. Along with Michael Goldberg (editor), Michael Goldberg's ''Addicted to Noise'' (est. 1994), it is one of the first publications to post recurring, feature-length music journalism online. PSF's origins trace back to New York freelance writer Jason Gross, who began a now-defunct website called Furious Green Thoughts (from the noted Colorless green ideas sleep furiously, Noam Chomsky quote). ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who, Dave Schulps, and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''. Touch and Go Records is an American independent record label based in Chicago, Illinois.
