Short Shackling
Short shackling is a torture technique where the person being tortured is bound, usually by the hands with a shackle, with little to no room to move in the radius of the tether. According to a military report the suspect's hands are shackled to an eyebolt on the floor, so that the suspect is forced to lie in a fetal position or squatting position. It is believed that the suspect's feet are also bound to the eyebolt, similar to hogtying, but this has not been confirmed in any government reports. This interrogation technique can cause flesh wounds. Shackle
A shackle (or shacklebolt), also known as a gyve, is a U-shaped piece of metal secured with a clevis pin or bolt across the opening, or a hinged metal loop secured with a quick-release locking pin mechanism. The term also applies to handcuffs and other similarly conceived restraint devices that function in a similar manner. Shackles are the primary connecting link in all manner of rigging systems, from boats and ships to industrial crane rigging, as they allow different rigging subsets to be connected or disconnected quickly. A shackle is also the similarly shaped piece of metal used with a locking mechanism in padlocks. A carabiner is a type of shackle used in mountaineering. An eye bolt is a bolt with a loop at one end. They are used to firmly attach a securing eye to a structure, so that ropes or cables may then be tied to it. Eye bolts Machinery eye bolts are fully threaded and may have a collar, making them suitable for use with angular loads up to 45°. Eye bolts without a shoulder should not be used for angular loads. Heavy forged eye bolts with a continuous eye may be forged with an integral shoulder, allowing their use for heavy off-axis loads. Fetal Position
Fetal position (British English: also foetal) is the positioning of the body of a prenatal fetus as it develops. In this position, the back is curved, the head is bowed, and the limbs are bent and drawn up to the torso. A compact position is typical for fetuses. Squatting is a versatile posture where the weight of the body is on the feet but the knees and hips are bent. The hogtie is a method of tying the limbs together, rendering the subject immobile and helpless. Originally, it was applied to pigs (hence the name) and other young four-legged animals. Physical restraint refers to means of purposely limiting or obstructing the freedom of a person's bodily movement.
