Shorkot () is a tehsil in Jhang District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is subdivided into 29 Union Councils. The city of Shorkot is the headquarters of the tehsil. A tehsil (, also known as tahsil, taluk, or taluka () is a local unit of administrative division in India and Pakistan. It is a subdistrict of the area within a Zila (country subdivision), district including the designated populated place that serves as its administrative centre, with possible additional towns, and usually a number of village#South Asia, villages. Shorkot
Shorkot (), (), is a city in Punjab (Pakistan) and serves as the capital of Shorkot Tehsil in Jhang District. The city is renowned for the tombs of several prominent Sufism, Sufi saints, including Sultan Bahoo, Syed Akbar Ali Shah Gilani, Syed Bahadur Ali Shah, Shah Mehmood Ghazi (known as "Ghazi Pir"), and Syed Mehboob Alam Gillani, whose tomb, located in the heart of the town, holds significant historical value. Born during the reign of Emperor Jahangir, he died in 1079 Hijri, during the rule of Emperor Aurangzeb. After meeting Syed Mehboob Alam Gillani, Aurangzeb became his disciple and granted the family a vast tract of land surrounding Shorkot. Ameer Sultan (born 5 December 1967) is an Indian film director, film producer, screenwriter and actor, working in the Tamil film industry. Sultan Bahu
Sultan Bahu (also spelled as Sultan Bahoo; ; 17 January 1630 – 1 March 1691), was a Punjabi Muslim poet, Sufi, scholar, and historian of the 17th century. Renowned for his mystical poetry, he was active during the reigns of Mughal emperors Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. Little is known about Bahu's life, other than what was written in a hagiography called ''Manaqib-i Sultani'' seven generations after Bahu's own time. According to these records, he was born in Shorkot into the Awan tribe. He was son of Bayazid Muhammad, an officer in the Mughal Army, and Rasti. Jhangvi Dialect
Jhangvi (; �d͡ʒàŋ.gᵊ.ʋi, also known as Jhangli (), Jangli () or Jhangochi (), is a dialect of Punjabi, that is spoken in central regions of Punjab, Pakistan. Its name is derived from Jhang, its main city. It is spoken throughout a widespread area, starting from Khanewal to Jhang District at either end of Ravi and Chenab.
