Shock Me EP
''Shock Me'' is an EP by American slowcore band Red House Painters. It was released in the UK only in 1994 on CD and 12" vinyl by record label 4AD. Recording ''Shock Me'' was recorded and mixed at Coast Recorders, San Francisco in 1993. Additional recording took place at Razor's Edge, also in San Francisco. Content The EP contains two versions of the song "Shock Me," a Kiss cover. The EP went out of print shortly after its initial release. The tracks later surfaced on the reissued edition of ''Red House Painters (Bridge)'', released in 1999. The "untitled instrumental" hidden track is actually an instrumental version of "A Million + 8 Things", a song from the early Red House Painters demo tapes (dated 1991-1992). Red House Painters Albums
Red is the color at the long wavelength end of the visible spectrum of light, next to orange and opposite violet. It has a dominant wavelength of approximately 625–740 nanometres. It is a primary color in the RGB color model and a secondary color (made from magenta and yellow) in the CMYK color model, and is the complementary color of cyan. Reds range from the brilliant yellow-tinged scarlet and vermillion to bluish-red crimson, and vary in shade from the pale red pink to the dark red burgundy. Red pigment made from ochre was one of the first colors used in prehistoric art. Simon Larbalestier
Simon Larbalestier (born 1962 in Pembrokeshire) is a Welsh photographer. Larbalestier is noted for his collaborative work with Vaughan Oliver and the design studios 23 Envelope and v23 with whom he has provided photography used on the album artwork for bands such as the Pixies, Red House Painters, Heidi Berry, and other artists on the 4AD label. Much of the pair's collaborative work has been featured in the book ''Vaughan Oliver: Visceral Pleasures''. His work has featured on many magazine covers for New Scientist and book covers for the publishers Random House and Secker & Warburg. Graduating with a Master of Arts from the Royal College of Art, London in 1987, Larbalestier has described his final degree show as a turning point. Ace Frehley
Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley (; born April 27, 1951) is an American musician, best known as the original lead guitarist and co-founding member of the hard rock band Kiss. He invented the persona of The Spaceman (a.k.a. Space Ace) and played with the group from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. After leaving Kiss, Frehley formed his own band named Frehley's Comet and released two albums with this group. He subsequently embarked on a solo career, which was put on hold when he rejoined Kiss in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. Frehley's second tenure with Kiss lasted until 2002, when he left at the conclusion of what was originally purported to be the band's farewell tour. Chapterhouse (band)
Chapterhouse were a British shoegaze band from Reading, Berkshire, England. Formed in 1987 by Andrew Sherriff and Stephen Patman, the band began performing alongside Spacemen 3. They released two albums: ''Whirlpool'' (1991) and '' Blood Music'' (1993). The group temporarily reformed in 2008 after being asked to join Ulrich Schnauss onstage to perform his cover version of their song "Love Forever" at the Truck Festival in Oxfordshire. The band finished the brief reunion with two gigs in London (2009–2010) and tours in North America and Japan in 2010. Ride (band)
Ride is an English rock band formed in Oxford in 1988. The band consists of vocalists and guitarists Andy Bell and Mark Gardener, drummer Laurence "Loz" Colbert and bassist Steve Queralt. They are recognised as one of the key pioneers of shoegaze, an alternative rock subgenre that emerged to prominence in the United Kingdom during the early 1990s. The band's first two albums, ''Nowhere'' (1990) and '' Going Blank Again'' (1992), are critically acclaimed as two of the greatest shoegaze albums of all time. The latter's lead single, " Leave Them All Behind", was the band's most commercially successful song, reaching No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart. Shoegaze (originally called shoegazing and sometimes conflated with " dream pop") is a subgenre of indie and alternative rock characterized by its ethereal mixture of obscured vocals, guitar distortion and effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume.Pete Prown / Harvey P. Nicholas Rodney Drake (19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974) was an English singer-songwriter known for his acoustic guitar-based songs.
