Shlomi () is a Local council (Israel), town in the Northern District (Israel), Northern District of Israel. In it had a population of . Etymology Shlomi (Hebrew name), Shlomi was named after a leader from the tribe of Asher, mentioned in the Hebrew Bible (). History Shlomi was founded as a Ma'abarot, Ma'abara in 1950 by Jewish immigrants from Tunisia and Morocco on the ruins of a Palestinian people, Palestinian village of al-Bassa, which had been destroyed during what the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, and which Adolf Neubauer "proposed to identify... with the Batzet of the Talmud". The Palestinian Arab village was stormed by Haganah troops in May 1948 and almost completely razed.
