Shivers (1981 Film)
''Shivers'' (, ''Dreszcze'') is a 1981 cinema of Poland, Polish drama film directed by Wojciech Marczewski. It was entered into the 32nd Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Jury Grand Prix, Silver Bear - Special Jury Prize. At the time of its release it was banned by the Polish Communist government. Plot Tomek (Tom) is a boy in Poland in 1955. His home life is mundane, yet tiresome; while looking through his father's library, he takes a small stamp of Madagascar from one of the books. In school, his teacher is crestfallen and cynical. During a poetry lesson where the teacher laments that he is not allowed to teach many great classics of Polish poetry due to the government, bullies throw a boy's hat out of the window. When he climbs out to attempt to fetch it, the teacher obliviously closes the window on his fingers, making him fall several floors to either great injury or death. Wojciech Szczęsny Marczewski (born 28 February 1944) is a Polish film director and screenwriter. He directed twelve films between 1968 and 2001. His 1981 film ''Dreszcze'' won the Jury Grand Prix, Silver Bear - Special Jury Prize at the 32nd Berlin International Film Festival. Filmweb is an online database of information related to films, television series, actors and film crew personnel. Since 2011, the database also contains video games. Filmweb was launched on March 18, 1998. It is a Polish-language site, and the largest Polish film database. History Filmweb was created by Artur Gortych, and launched on March 18, 1998. On January 20, 2000, it became the first Polish website available through Wireless Application Protocol. In 2005, Filmweb PRO (aimed at entertainment professionals) was launched. On May 20, 2010, the beta version of the website was launched, and Filmweb also started to use a new algorithm, called Gustomierz (''Tastemeter''). Biography He was born on 1 February 1943 in Puławy as the second son of Julian and Jadwiga. His father was a forester and an infantry officer in the Polish Army, he died in the Warsaw Uprising.
