Shivaraj Sharanappa Sajjanar is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party who was the member of Karnataka Legislative Council representing Dharwad Local Authorities constituency. Political Career Shivaraj contested 2004 Karnataka election from Haveri and emerged victorious against Basavaraj Shivannanavar. However Haveri became a reserved seat after delimitation and hence he didn't contest 2008 Karnataka election. He was then elected to Karnataka Legislative Council from Dharwad Local Authorities after the seat fell vacant due to Basavaraj Bommai's election to Shiggaon (Assembly constituency). He quit the BJP and joined B. S. Yediyurappa led Karnataka Janata Paksha and contested from Byadgi seat in 2013 Karnataka election and lost to Basavaraj Shivannanavar of Indian National Congress. The Karnataka Legislative Council is the upper house of the bicameral legislature of Karnataka state in South Western India. 2004 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2004 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election took place on 20 April and 26 April 2004 in 224 constituencies in Karnataka, India. The elections were conducted to elect the government in the state of Karnataka for the next five years. The votes were counted on 13 May 2004. None of the parties were able to win a majority and the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party with 79 seats. Subsequently, the Indian National Congress with 65 members and Janata Dal (Secular) with 58 members formed a coalition to run the government with Dharam Singh as the chief minister. This was the first ever coalition government in the state. 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 5 May 2013 to elect members from 223 constituencies in the Indian state of Karnataka. Five major political parties contested the election: Indian National Congress (INC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)), B. S. Yeddyurappa's Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) and B. Sriramulu's Badavara Shramikara Raitara Congress (BSRCP). Though Karnataka has 224 assembly constituencies, elections were held only for 223 seats. The election for the Piriyapatna constituency was postponed to 28 May 2013 due to the death of the BJP candidate for the seat. The voter turnout in the state was 70.23%. Karnataka Janata Paksha
Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) was an Indian political party based in Karnataka state. It was founded in 2012 and disestablished in 2014, merging with the Bharatiya Janta Party. It was headed by Karnataka Chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa. Yeddyurappa had resigned as a Member of Legislative Assembly and from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 30 November 2012. The party was formally launched in a convention at Haveri on 9 December 2012, wherein thousands of people participated. Scores of former and sitting legislators, ministers and senior functionaries of the BJP joined the party along with Yeddyurappa. 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election took place in three phases on 10, 16 and 22 May 2008 in all the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka, India. The elections were conducted to elect a Government in the state of Karnataka for the next five years. The votes were counted on 25 May and due to the use of electronic voting machines, all the results were out by the afternoon itself. The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious winning 110 seats. Although the party fell short of a clear majority, it was able to form the government with the support of 6 independents. Basavaraj Somappa Bommai (born 28 January 1960) is an Indian politician and engineer who is the current and 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly in the legislature of Karnataka for Shiggaon, from where he has been elected three times since 2008.
