Shiro Suzuki (politician)
, is a Japanese politician serving as the mayor of Nagasaki, the capital city of Nagasaki Prefecture. Education and Career After graduating from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law, Shiro Suzuki joined the former Ministry of Transport in 1991. Suzuki completed his graduate studies at London School of Economics and Political Science (1998), The George Washington University Law School (2007), The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University (2008). He left the current Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism in December 2022 to run for the Mayor of Nagasaki. On April 26, 2023, Shiro Suzuki became the 36th Mayor of Nagasaki. His grandfather, Tsutomu Tagawa (田川 務) was also the Mayor of Nagasaki during 1951 - 1967. Tagawa was a lawyer. , is a Japanese politician and the mayor of Nagasaki, the capital city of Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan from 2007 to 2023. Early life Taue is a graduate of Kyushu University, and majored in jurisprudence. He began his career as a civil servant at the municipal government, which he first joined in 1980, eventually serving as a department manager of the statistics department. Political career Taue was elected mayor of Nagasaki in a special election in 2007 following the assassination of Iccho Itoh in the midst of the 2007 unified local elections. He was re-elected in the April 2011 elections and ran unopposed in the April 2015 elections, the first uncontested mayoral election in Nagasaki history. In 2007, Taue criticized Fumio Kyuma, then the Minister of Defense, as the mayor of Nagasaki for his remark on the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Gilad Cohen
Gilad Cohen (Hebrew: גלעד כהן) (born October 11, 1967) is an Israeli diplomat in the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Cohen serves as the Ambassador of Israel to Japan since October 2021. From 2017 to 2021, he served as the Deputy Director General for Asia and Pacific division at the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
