Shirley Braha
Shirley Braha (born December 26, 1982) is the adoptive owner of popular internet dog Marnie the Dog. She has also been a TV producer and creator of the music television show New York Noise (2003–2010) and MTV Hive's indie music video show Weird Vibes (2011–2013). Early life Braha is a native of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. At 16, she started a record label called Little Shirley Beans Records. From 2001-2002 she was programming co-director for the streaming internet radio site indiepopradio.com At Smith College, Braha was a DJ at WOZQ and their Events Director. Vine was an American short-form video hosting service where users could share up to 6-second-long looping video clips. Founded in June 2012 by Rus Yusupov, Dom Hofmann and Colin Kroll, the company was bought by Twitter, Inc., four months later for $30 million. Vine launched with its iOS app on January 24, 2013, with Android and Windows versions following. Videos published on Vine's social network could also be shared on different social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. The Vine app was also used to browse videos, along with a group of videos that were uploaded by theme, and hoping that users could "trend" videos. Marnie (dog)
Marnie (26 October 2001 - 5 March 2020) was a female Shih Tzu rescue dog adopted and owned by Shirley Braha. Photos of Marnie have been popular on Instagram and Twitter. At the time of her death, Marnie's Instagram account had over 1.9 million followers and each of the photos have received hundreds of thousands of Instagram likes; in the last two months of her life, Marnie's following increased five-times over. Marnie's Twitter account has over 115 thousand followers. Braha also posted short videos of Marnie on Vine. In August 2012 Marnie was moved to an animal shelter by animal control as an abandoned street dog living in Connecticut. Four months later, she was adopted by Braha via Petfinder.
