Shireen Huq
Shireen Huq, also known as Shireen Pervin Huq, is a women's rights activist, and founder of Naripokkho, a woman's rights organization. She is a trustee board member of Gono Bishwabidyalay. She is the co-convener of Bangladesh Civil Society Platform on Justice and Accountability for the Rohingyas. Career Huq was one of the founding member of ''Naripokkho'' in 1983. She worked for Danish International Development Agency from 1987 to 2006. Huq signed a letter with 57 other women leaders calling on the government to not interfere with Grameen Bank in August 2012. In August 2013, Huq called for the government to release Adilur Rahman Khan. Huq spoked against the short imprisonment of David Bergman (journalist), David Bergman for contempt of court in 2015. Sharmeen Murshid
Sharmeen Soneya Murshid is a member of the advisory council of the 2024 Bangladesh interim government, Bangladesh interim government. She was chief executive officer of human rights organization ''Brotee'' which has been working for the rights of marginalized groups, especially the indigenous people since 2001. She is currently serving as Adviser to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs as well as Ministry of Social Welfare (Bangladesh), Ministry of Social Welfare. Zafrullah Chowdhury
Zafrullah Chowdhury (27 December 1941 – 11 April 2023) was a Bangladeshi public health activist. He was the founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, a rural healthcare organisation. He was known more for his work in formulating the Bangladesh National Drug Policy in 1982. Chowdhury's work in population control earned him the inaugural Independence Day Award, the highest civilian award in Bangladesh, in 1977. Among other awards, he was given Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1985 and the Right Livelihood Award in 1992 for his work in the public health sector. Muhammad Yunus
Muhammad Yunus (born 28 June 1940) is a Bangladeshi economist, entrepreneur, and civil society leader who has been serving as the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Chief Adviser of the Interim government of Muhammad Yunus, interim Yunus ministry, government of Bangladesh since 8 August 2024. Aynaghar
Aynaghar () is a colloquial term referring to a network of clandestine detention centers which were operated by the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), the intelligence branch of Bangladesh's defence forces and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), an elite force unit of Bangladesh Police, during the authoritarian rule of Sheikh Hasina. These facilities have been linked to enforced disappearances and human rights abuses during Sheikh Hasina's tenure as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, particularly from 2009 to 2024. The existence of Aynaghar sparked significant controversy and was consistently denied by the Hasina regime, which faced widespread criticism from human rights organisations and activists. The Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (), commonly known by its acronym DGFI, is the defense intelligence agency of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, tasked with collection, collation and evaluation of strategic and topographic information, primarily through human intelligence (HUMINT). Zillur Rahman (journalist)
Zillur Rahman is a Bangladeshi journalist and activist. He is the executive director of the Center for Governance Studies and host of Tritiyo Matra. Early life Rahman was born in Dhaka. His father A K M Khalilur Rahman was a lawyer, and his mother Shamim Parvin was a housewife. He graduated from Nawabpur Government High School.
