Shimon Peres ( ; ; born Szymon Perski, ; 2 August 1923 – 28 September 2016) was an Israeli politician and statesman who served as the prime minister of Israel from 1984 to 1986 and from 1995 to 1996 and as the president of Israel from 2007 to 2014. He was a member of twelve Cabinet of Israel, cabinets and represented five political parties in a political career spanning 70 years. Samuel Shimon (born 1956 in Al-Habbaniyah, Iraq) is an Iraqi writer and journalist of Assyrian descent. He left Iraq in 1979 with dreams of becoming a director in Hollywood, and has since then lived in Damascus, Amman, Beirut, Nicosia, Aden, Cairo, Tunis and Paris, before finally settling in London. Along with his wife Margaret Obank, he is a co-founder and, since issue #39, editor of the literary magazine '' Banipal''. Ran Ben-Shimon (; born ) is a former Israeli football player and current manager, who serves as the head-coach of the Israel national team. As a footballer, he has played as a center-back. Shimon Ullman (; born January 28, 1948, in Jerusalem) is a professor of computer science at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. Ullman's main research area is the study of vision processing by both humans and machines. Specifically, he focuses on object and facial recognition and has made a number of key insights in this field, including with Christof Koch the idea of a visual saliency map in the mammalian visual system to regulate selective spatial attention. Shimon Moyal (1866–1915) was a Zionist activist and physician. He worked for several newspapers and started a short-lived newspaper with his wife, Esther Moyal. He was the translator of the Talmud into the Arabic language. Early life and education Moyal was born in Jaffa in 1866. His father was Yousef Moyal whose family were wealthy Jews from Morocco who settled in Palestine. Shimon's brother, David Moyal (1880–1953), was a lawyer and activist.
