was a Japanese manga artist and historian, best known for his manga series '' GeGeGe no Kitarō''. Born in a hospital in Osaka and raised in the city of Sakaiminato, Tottori, he later moved to Chōfu, Tokyo where he remained until his death. His pen-name, Mizuki, comes from the time when he managed an inn called 'Mizuki Manor' while he drew pictures for kamishibai. Shigeru Yoshida
(22 September 1878 – 20 October 1967) was a Japanese diplomat and politician who served as prime minister of Japan from 1946 to 1947 and from 1948 to 1954. Yoshida was one of the longest-serving Japanese prime ministers, and is the third-longest serving prime minister of post-occupation Japan. Early life and education Yoshida was born on 22 September 1878, in Kanda-Surugadai, Tokyo, the fifth son of political activist and former samurai Tsuna Takeuchi. Shigeru Izumi
(1922–1995) was a Japanese painter and printmaker. Biography Shigeru Izumi was born in 1922 in Osaka, Japan. He attended the Nakanoshima School of Western Art, and the Osaka City Kogei School (Osaka City School of Applied Arts), graduating in 1939. In 1951 he established the ''Osaka demokurato bijutsu kyokai'' (Democratic Artists Association) with fellow artists Ei-Q and Yoshio Hayakawa. In 1959 he traveled to New York where he was guest professor at the Pratt Graphic Art Center. In 1963 he moved to Paris where he lived until around 1968, when he returned to Japan. Shigeru Izumi taught at the Osaka University of Arts from 1970 through the early 1990s. Shigeru Izumi died in 1995. (born February 19, 1951) is a Japanese composer. Once the leader and bass player of Japan's new wave rock band EX, composer Shigeru Umebayashi began scoring films in 1985 when the band broke up. He has more than 30 Japanese and Chinese film scores to his credit and is perhaps best known in the West for "Yumeji's Theme" (originally from Seijun Suzuki's '' Yumeji''), included in director Wong Kar-wai's '' In the Mood for Love'' (2000). Umebayashi scored most of Wong Kar-wai's follow-up film, ''2046'' (2004), and '' House of Flying Daggers''. was a career military officer and a lieutenant general in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. Biography Sawada was the third son of a farmer in what is now the Kamobe neighborhood of the city of Kochi, Kōchi Prefecture. After attending military preparatory schools in Kōchi and Hiroshima, he graduated from the 18th class of the Imperial Japanese Army Academy in 1905, serving as a junior officer in an artillery regiment. In 1910, he was sent to the Artillery Engineering School, and to the 26th class of the Army War College in 1914. Baron , also known as Narahara Kogorō, was a Japanese politician of the Meiji period who served as the eighth governor of Okinawa Prefecture from 1892 to 1908, and in a number of other posts over the course of his career.
