"Shifftee" is a song by American hip hop group Onyx (hip hop group), Onyx. It was released on August 30, 1993 by JMJ Records, Rush Associated Labels and Chaos Recordings as the third single from Onyx's debut album, ''Bacdafucup''. The song was about being grimy and having that echo into a myriad of life situations. Produced by Chyskillz and Jam Master Jay, "Shifftee" was not as successful as the first two singles, but it still managed to make to five different ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' charts, peaking at 2 on the Rap Songs, Hot Rap Singles. The song was sampled by several rap artists including Skillz (rapper), Mad Skillz, Raekwon, Marco Polo (producer), Marco Polo and Noreaga. ''Bacdafucup'' is the debut studio album by American hip hop group Onyx (hip hop group), Onyx, released on March 30, 1993, by JMJ Records, Rush Associated Labels and Chaos Recordings. The album was produced by Randy Allen (Executive Producer), Chyskillz, Jam Master Jay and Kool Tee. ''Bacdafucup'' peaked at number 17 on the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200, and number 8 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. The album was platinum certification, certified Platinum by the RIAA on October 25, 1993. In 1994, the album was nominated as "Rap/Hip-Hop New Artist" on American Music Awards of 1994 and won "Best Rap Album" on 1994 Soul Train Music Awards. Chyskillz
Chylow Parker (July 19, 1969 – February 13, 2018), known by the stage name Chyskillz, was an American record producer, DJ, musician, rapper and a member of multi-platinum hardcore rap group Onyx. Chyskillz was discovered by the late great hip hop legend Jam Master Jay of Run-D.M.C. who signed Onyx on his label JMJ Records. Onyx's debut album ''Bacdafucup'', produced by Chyskillz, helped the group to become a nominee for "Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop New Artist" on American Music Awards and won "Best Rap Album" on Soul Train Music Awards. JMJ Records was an American record label which was founded in 1985 by Jason Mizell, better known as Jam Master Jay from Run-D.M.C. The label was relaunched in 2017 by Jam Master J'Son, the oldest son of Jam Master Jay. The label released such artists as The Afros, Fam-Lee, Onyx, Jayo Felony, Suga and 50 Cent. "Live Niguz", also known by its censored title "Live!!!" is a song by American hip hop group Onyx. It was released on July 18, 1995 by Def Jam, Rush Associated Labels and JMJ Records as a single from Def Jam's '' The Show: The Soundtrack'' and as the first single from Onyx's second album, ''All We Got Iz Us''. Produced by all three members of Onyx, "Live!!!" only found minor success on the R&B and rap charts, becoming the group's first single not to reach the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Background Sticky Fingaz's verse is molded off of Slick Rick's in "La-Di-Da-Di" but flipped. For his verse, Sticky Fingaz took and redid the Slick Rick's verse from the song "La Di Da Di". Almost all the lines in a verse of Sticky begin and end with the same words as in the song by Slick Rick, but they have a completely different meaning. "Slam" is a song by American hip hop group Onyx. It was released on May 11, 1993 by JMJ Records and Rush Associated Labels as the second single from Onyx's debut album, ''Bacdafucup''. The song introduced slamdancing into hip-hop. "Slam" was Onyx's breakthrough single, making it to number 4 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and was the group's second straight single to make it to number 1 on the Hot Rap Singles for two weeks. The Cro-Mags are an American hardcore punk band from New York City. The band, which has garnered a strong cult following, has released six studio albums, with the first two considered the most influential. With a Hare Krishna background, they were among the first bands to fuse hardcore punk with thrash metal. Victor James Santiago Jr. (born September 6, 1977), better known by his stage names N.O.R.E. (an acronym for Nigga On the Run Eating) and Noreaga, is an American rapper, singer and podcaster.
