Sheung Shui Station
Sheung Shui (; : , literally "Above-water") is the penultimate northbound station on the in Hong Kong. This station serves as the northern terminus of the East Rail line after the Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau boundary crossings have closed for the day. It is also the last northbound station on the East Rail line that passengers without a Closed Area Permit, Mainland Travel Permit, or valid passport and mainland Chinese visa may freely travel to. This station is located in the North District, New Territories, Hong Kong, serving the Sheung Shui area and its vicinity. History On 1 October 1910, the Kowloon-Canton Railway British Section opened to the public, but Sheung Shui station was not added until 16 May 1930. Landmark North
Landmark North () is an office tower-and-shopping centre complex in Sheung Shui, Hong Kong. It was developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties and is located in the commercial centre of Sheung Shui. Location Landmark North is situated at 39 Lung Sum Avenue in Sheung Shui. A footbridge connects it with Sheung Shui station. Landmark North is connected to Metropolis Plaza by a footbridge. The East Rail line () is one of the ten lines that form MTR, the rapid transit, mass transit system in Hong Kong. North District Hospital () or NDH is a district general hospital serving the population of the New Territories East Cluster. It has now 683 in-patient beds,NTEC Bed Inventory, Hospital Authority 24-hour Accident & Emergency service, specialist out-patient, day and community facilities. NDH is the first hospital completely planned and built by the Hospital Authority since their establishment in 1990. After five years' construction, the hospital commenced service in February 1998. Tai Ping Estate () is a public housing estate in Sheung Shui, New Territories, Hong Kong. It consists of four residential buildings completed in 1989. Choi Yuen Estate
Choi Yuen Estate () is a public housing estate in Sheung Shui, New Territories, Hong Kong, near Landmark North and MTR Sheung Shui station. It is the first public housing estate in North District and consists of six residential buildings completed between 1981 and 1983. Yuk Po Court () and Choi Po Court () are Home Ownership Scheme courts in Sheung Shui near Choi Yuen Estate, built in 1982 and 1984 respectively. Background The site of Choi Yuen Estate was formerly occupied by vegetable farms and the nearby village was called Tsoi Yuen Tsuen (), which meant Vegetable Farm Village in Chinese. In the 1970s, the vegetable farms were removed to construct Choi Yuen Estate; "菜園村" and "彩園邨" sound almost the same except the tone of the character "菜" / "彩".
