Sherlock Holmes And The Leading Lady
''Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady'' and its sequel, '' Incident at Victoria Falls'' (1992), are a pair of TV films made in 1991 under the banner ''Sherlock Holmes the Golden Years''. Harry Alan Towers was executive producer and Bob Shayne was the writer on both. Plot Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson are elderly gentlemen in 1910 Vienna. Both are involved independently with foiling Balkan terrorists. They reunite by chance with “The Woman”: actress Irene Adler. They save Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria from an assassination at the opera house and thus delay the onset of World War I. The film also featured a number of historical characters, including Eliot Ness and Sigmund Freud. Peter Sasdy
Peter Sasdy (born 27 May 1935 in Budapest, Hungary) is a British film and television director. In addition to his numerous TV credits, notable among which is the Nigel Kneale-scripted '' The Stone Tape'' (1972), he directed several horror films for Hammer, including '' Taste the Blood of Dracula'' (1970), '' Countess Dracula'' (1971) and '' Hands of the Ripper'' (1971). Incident At Victoria Falls
''Incident at Victoria Falls'' (also known as ''Sherlock Holmes and the Incident at Victoria Falls'' and ''Sherlock Holmes: The Star of Africa'') is the 1992 sequel to ''Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady'', and the second and final film in the proposed series of television films ''Sherlock Holmes the Golden Years'' written by Bob Shayne. It starred Christopher Lee and Patrick Macnee as Holmes and Watson in old age. Watson mentions that he is in his mid-50s and twice says he is getting too old for this sort of adventure. Both Lee and Macnee were 69 years old when this series was filmed. This does not, however, prevent Lee and fellow actor Claude Akins from achieving a remarkable stunt, sitting on the cowcatcher on the front of a moving steam train for several minutes of dialogue.
