Shericka Williams
Shericka Williams (born 17 September 1985 in Black River, Jamaica, Black River, St. Elizabeth) is a Jamaicans, Jamaican former Sprint (running), sprinter. Together with Novlene Williams-Mills, Ronetta Smith and Lorraine Fenton she won a silver medal in 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. She also competed in the individual contest, but was knocked out in the semifinal. Two years later, she won another silver medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay event at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, this time with Shereefa Lloyd, Davita Prendergast and Novlene Williams-Mills. The team set a national record in that race, finishing second to the United States in a time of 3:19.73. 4 × 400 Metres Relay
The 4 × 400 metres relay or long relay is an athletics track and field, track event in which teams consist of four runners who each complete 400 metres or one lap, totaling 1600 meters. It is traditionally the final event of a track meet. The first leg and the first bend of the second leg are run in lanes. 400 Metres
The 400 metres, or 400-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field competitions. It has been featured in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1964 for women. On a standard outdoor running track, it is one lap around the track. Runners start in staggered positions and race in separate lanes for the entire course. In many countries, athletes previously competed in the 440-yard dash (402.336 m)—which is a quarter of a mile (1,760 yards) and was referred to as the "quarter-mile"—instead of the 400 m (437.445 yards), though this distance is now obsolete. 200 Metres
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400-metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks. Christine Day
Christine Day (born 23 August 1986) is a Jamaican sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. She represented Jamaica at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the individual 400 m and in the 4 × 400 metre relay. Day was eliminated in the semifinals of the individual 400 m but she and teammates Rosemarie Whyte, Shericka Williams and Novlene Williams-Mills won bronze in the relay. Day won a bronze medal at the 2014 Glasgow in the women's 400 m behind teammates Stephanie McPherson and Novlene Williams-Mills. Shereefa Lloyd (born 2 September 1982 in Clarendon Park, Jamaica) is a Jamaican sprinter, who specializes in the 400 metres. She attended and competed for Texas Tech under coach Wes Kittley. At the 2007 World Championships Lloyd won a bronze medal in 4 × 400 metres relay, together with teammates Shericka Williams, Davita Prendergast and Novlene Williams. Lorraine Fenton (born Lorraine Graham on 8 September 1973 in Manchester) is a retired Jamaican athlete who specialized in the 400 metres. Career Her career highlight came when she won the Olympic silver medal in 2000, being the first Jamaican woman to win a medal in this event. She also won silver medals at the 2001 and 2003 World Championships, a bronze medal at the 1999 World Championships, as well as gold, silver and bronze medals in the relay. In 2002, she set a Jamaican record in 400 m with 49.30 seconds that lasted until 2024. Ronetta Jamilah Smith (born 2 May 1980) is a Jamaican sprinter. Career A 400m runner with a personal best of 51.23 (set in May 2005), Smith has never reached an international final in an individual race. However, she was a part of the Jamaican 4 x 400 meters relay teams that won the bronze medal at the 2003 World Championships and the silver medal at the 2005 World Championships. Novlene Williams-Mills
Novlene Hilaire Williams-Mills (''née'', Williams; born 26 April 1982) is a retired Jamaican track and field athlete. She won the bronze medal in the 400 metres at the 2007 World Championships. She is also a three-time Olympic silver medallist in the 4 × 400 metres relay. In 2015 she won relay gold alongside her Jamaican teammates. Early life Williams-Mills was born in Saint Ann, Jamaica. She is a graduate of Ferncourt High School, located in Claremont, St. Ann Parish, Jamaica. She attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where she was a member of coach Tom Jones' Florida Gators track and field team.
