The ''Shelburne News'' is an American newspaper serving the town of Shelburne, Vermont. The paper has a circulation of 4,500-5,000. It is a free, weekly paper published on Thursdays. The paper is owned by the Vermont Community Newspaper Group. Greg Popa is the publisher of the ''Shelburne News.'' History The paper was first published in 1967. Lynn Monty replaced Sheri Duff as the paper's editor in July 2015. In 2017, Holly Johnson sold the ''Shelburne News'' to Bob Miller and Norb Garret, owners of the ''Stowe Reporter'', ''Waterbury Record'', ''News & Citizen'', and the ''Citizen''. The Vermont Community Newspaper Group is a media company and publisher of five weekly newspapers and multiple magazines in the U.S. state of Vermont. History After owning the Stowe Reporter for 17 years, publisher Biddle Duke sold a majority stake in December 2014 to Bob Miller of New York and Norb Garret of California. Greg Popa replaced Duke as publisher. On Oct. 1, 2015, the Stowe Reporter bought the Morrisville News and Citizen. In May 2017, they bought the ''Shelburne News'', a weekly covering Shelburne, Vermont, and ''Charlotte Citizen, The Citizen'', a weekly covering the towns of Charlotte, Vermont, Charlotte and Hinesburg, Vermont. In January 2019, the company had grown to include six weekly community newspapers and changed its name to the ''Vermont Community Newspaper Group''. Shelburne is a town in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. Located along the shores of Lake Champlain, Shelburne's town center lies approximately south of the city center of Burlington, the most populous city in the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population of Shelburne was 7,717. The main settlement of Shelburne in the center of town is a census-designated place (CDP), with a population of 6,178 at the 2020 census. The ''Stowe Reporter'' is a newspaper based in the US state of Vermont that is published once a week on Thursdays. It serves greater the Mt. Mansfield area, including Stowe, Waterbury, Morrisville, Hyde Park, and across Lamoille County, Vermont. History The ''Stowe Reporter'' was founded in 1958 by Dorre Hanna and Martha Ball. It was purchased by Trow Elliman, Alex Nimick, Russ Spring, and Mary and Bob Bourdon two years later, in 1960. Elliman bought out his partners in 1965. He remained publisher of the paper until 1998. In May 1998, the paper was bought by A.B. "Biddle" Duke. Duke was the son of Angier Biddle Duke and Robin Chandler Duke. In 2007, Duke spun off another paper, the ''Waterbury Record''.
