Sheikh A. K. Motahar Hossain
Sheikh A. K. Motahar Hossain is the retired secretary and former National Board of Revenue Chairman. He is a former secretary of the Ministry of Shipping. He was a member of the Bangladesh Privatisation Commission. Career Hossain was the joint secretary of the Ministry of Education in 2003. In November 2005, Hossain was promoted to additional secretary while serving as the Director General of the Food, Planning and Monitoring Unit. He was the secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. On 9 January 2007, Hossain was appointed the chairman of the National Board of Revenue replacing A. F. M. Solaiman Chowdhury. National Board Of Revenue
The National Board of Revenue (NBR; ) is the central authority for tax administration in Bangladesh. It is a statutory authority attached with the Internal Resources Division of the Ministry of Finance. The NBR collects almost 97% of tax revenue and almost 85% of total revenue for the Bangladesh government. The finance ministry proposed dissolving the NBR and creating two ministerial divisions—the Revenue Management Division and the Revenue Policy Division—through a hastily promulgated ordinance in 2025. The ordinance drew criticism from Transparency International Bangladesh, which denounced the move as executive capture of the revenue sector. Badiur Rahman is the secretary and chairman of the Bangladesh National Board of Revenue. Career Rahman was the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief in 2003. In 2005, Rahman was the Additional Secretary of the Economic Relations Division in the Ministry of Finance. He was secretary of the Planning Division. Mirza Abdul Jalil (born 19 March 1937) is a Bangladeshi economist and politician of Awami League. Early life and family Mirza Abdul Jalil was born on 19 March 1937 to a Bengali Muslim family of Mirzas in the village of Joynagar in Bera, Pabna District, then part of the Bengal Presidency.
