Donald Alexander Sheff (born June 27, 1931) is an American former competition swimmer for Yale University who represented the United States in the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. Robert Nathan Sheff (January 1, 1945 – December 12, 2020), known professionally as "Blue" Gene Tyranny, was an American avant-garde composer and pianist. Stanley Sheff is an American Hollywood-born director and screenwriter. He has worked in television, stage and screen. His collaboration with Orson Welles eventually led Sheff to direct and co-write the cult sci-fi feature '' Lobster Man from Mars'' (1989) starring Tony Curtis, based on a title suggested by Welles. Feature films and television are not the only types of projects directed by Stanley Sheff. In the early 1980s, he produced, directed, and performed a popular comedy radio show for KROQ-FM radio in Los Angeles called "The Young Marquis and Stanley", a comedy show that was aired on Sunday evenings. Will Robinson Sheff (born July 7, 1976) is the frontman for the Austin, Texas-based indie band Okkervil River (1998–present). Originally from Meriden, New Hampshire, he is also a founding member and co-songwriter (along with former Okkervil bandmate Jonathan Meiburg) for Shearwater (2001–2009), another Austin band. Sheff writes and performs many songs as a solo artist while juggling his commitments to Okkervil River and Shearwater, and has released one album as a solo artist. As well as writing and singing songs, he plays guitar, piano, banjo, and harmonica. Sheff attended Kimball Union Academy, where his creativity was encouraged by a teacher named Simon Harrold, and was an English major at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Sheff is an extinct town in York Township, Benton County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. History Sheff was the site of an interlocking tower that controlled the crossing of the New York Central (NYC) railroad and the NYC subsidiary, Big Four (CCC&StL) railroad. The town derives its name from a vice president of the Big Four. It was satirically located at the top of the last glaciations terminal moraine. The North South line was built in 1906 under the name Chicago, Indiana, & Southern. There was a large transfer yard located north of the interlocking. At one point the town contained a YMCA, a roundhouse, a restaurant, and several houses. The 1906 date fits the draining of Beaver Lake north of Morocco, Indiana across which bead the line was built. 1906 was significant as these rail lines fed coal north to the massive steel mills being built at Indiana Harbor and Gary, Indiana.
