Shawn Evans (lacrosse)
Shawn Evans (born April 28, 1986, in Peterborough, Ontario) is a Canadian former professional lacrosse player who played in the National Lacrosse League, and the Major League Lacrosse. Evans' brothers, Scott and Stephen have also played in the NLL. Evans is one of two lacrosse player in history to win the Minto Cup (the Canadian Junior lacrosse title), the Mann Cup (the Canadian Senior lacrosse title), and the NLL Champion's Cup all within 12 months of each other. He is also only one of three lacrosse players in history (the others being Craig Conn and Mark Matthews) to win 2 Minto Cups back to back (2006 & 2007) with 2 different Junior teams. In May 2013, after winning the scoring title with 112 points, Evans was named NLL MVP. Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) is a Senior A box lacrosse league with 7 teams based in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. The league championship team each year goes on to play against the champions of the Western Lacrosse Association for the Mann Cup in September. The championship is hosted alternately between Ontario and British Columbia. History Field Era Major Series Lacrosse originated in the late 19th century as the Canadian Lacrosse Association. Craig Conn
Craig Conn (born November 16, 1983, in St. Catharines, Ontario) is a former professional lacrosse player. High school career Conn was a four-year starter at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in St. Catharines from 1997 to 2001. During those years, he teamed up with fellow future NLL players Matt Vinc, Billy Dee Smith and Sean Greenhalgh to win two OFSAA field lacrosse championships (1999, 2001). After Conn graduated, many St. Catharines lacrosse players would follow in Conn's footsteps and play for Holy Cross, which would help the school become a lacrosse powerhouse for years. The 2015 National Lacrosse League season, the 29th in the history of the NLL, began on January 2, 2015, and ended with Game 2 of the Champion's Cup Finals series on June 5, 2015. Cody Jamieson (born July 17, 1987) is an Iroquois professional box lacrosse player. He plays for the Halifax Thunderbirds of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs in Major Series Lacrosse. Jamieson is a former attackman for Syracuse University, where he obtained a degree in Communications. National Lacrosse League Jamieson was selected first overall by the Rochester Knighthawks in the 2010 NLL draft. He had 53 points in his rookie season and finished second to Curtis Dickson in the Rookie of the Year voting. The Denver Outlaws are a professional field lacrosse team based in Denver, Colorado, that competes in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). Founded as the Chrome Lacrosse Club, they began play as one of the league's six inaugural teams in the 2019 season alongside Archers, Atlas, Chaos, Redwoods, and Whipsnakes. Chesapeake Bayhawks
The Chesapeake Bayhawks were a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men's field lacrosse team based in Annapolis, Maryland. They played in the greater Baltimore metro area beginning with the MLL's inaugural 2001 season, as the Baltimore Bayhawks from 2001 to 2006 and as the Washington Bayhawks from 2007 to 2009. The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is considered the most competitive Junior A men's box lacrosse league in the world and the number one source for talent for the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Six Nations Arrows
The Six Nations Arrows are Canada, Canadian Junior "A" box lacrosse team from Ohsweken, Ontario on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve. The Arrows play in the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. In 2021, the Arrows announced that they'd be leaving the OLA for a new league, the Tewaaraton Lacrosse League. In response the Ontario Lacrosse Association, OLA was quick to establish a new Six Nations Arrows team, to take over the original Arrows franchise history in the OLA. The "new" Arrows completed their first season of play in the shortened 2021 OLA Junior A Lacrosse League season, and continue to play in the league. Peterborough ( ) is a cathedral city in the City of Peterborough district in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The city is north of London, on the River Nene.
