Shawn Asbury II
Shawn Asbury II is an American football safety for the Indiana Hoosiers. He previously played for the Boston College Eagles and Old Dominion Monarchs. Early life Asbury attended North Stafford High School in Stafford, Virginia where he played football and basketball. Asbury was named to the Virginia 5A All-State Team during his junior year leading him to commit to play college football for the Virginia Tech Hokies. In August 2020, Asbury stated that he would be an early enrollee at Virginia Tech, but would flip his commitment to Boston College in November after earning his second Virginia 5A All-State honor. College career Boston College Asbury was the backup safety during the 2021 season. Asbury made his collegiate debut against Colgate, where he made two tackles in the 51–0 win. Safety (S), historically known as a safetyman, is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety (FS) and the strong safety (SS). Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two Halfback (Canadian football), defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. 2022 Old Dominion Monarchs Football Team
The 2022 Old Dominion Monarchs football team represented Old Dominion University during the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Monarchs played their home games at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, Virginia. It was their first football season in the Sun Belt Conference, competing in the East Division. Previously a member of the Sun Belt until 1991, the University did not field a football team at that time, nor did the conference sponsor the sport.
