Sharon Hunt
Sharon Ann Hunt (born 11 October 1977 in Bury St Edmunds) is a British three-day eventing rider. Hunt was educated at Culford School and the Perse School for Girls. With her horse Tankers Town, she was fifth at Badminton Horse Trials then she won the bronze medal for Great Britain in the Equestrian at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Team eventing, team eventing at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In the spring of 2006 Hunt was 6th at badminton horse trials with Tankers Town. This gained her a place as an individual at the World Equestrian Games, in Aachen, Germany, where she finished 9th. In June 2010, Sharon Hunt and Tankers Town won the 2010 Luhmühlen Horse Trials (CCI 4*). Equestrian At The Summer Olympics
Equestrian sports were first included in the Olympic Games in the Summer Olympics of 1900 in Paris. They were again included in 1912, and have been included in every subsequent edition of the Games. The Olympic equestrian disciplines are dressage, eventing, and show-jumping. In each discipline, both individual and team medals are awarded. Women and men compete on equal terms. Together with the equestrian component of Modern Pentathlon, it is the only Olympic event that involves animals. The horses are considered to be athletes as much as the riders. The international governing body for equestrian sports is the Fédération Équestre Internationale. The first Olympics held under its authority were in 1924.
