Sharleen Spiteri
Sharleen Eugene Spiteri (born 7 November 1967) is a Scottish singer and guitarist, best known as the lead singer of the rock band Texas. She has a contralto vocal range. In 2013, Texas's worldwide album sales were counted at 40 million records. Texas returned from their hiatus in 2013 with '' The Conversation'', which debuted at No. 4 on the UK Album Chart, No. 3 on their native Scottish Album Charts as well as No. 8 in France. A 25th-anniversary album followed in 2015 entitled ''Texas 25'', followed by the band's ninth studio album, '' Jump on Board'' (2017), which achieved mainstream chart success, topping the albums charts in Scotland and debuting within the top ten in France, the United Kingdom and Belgium. ''Melody'' is the debut solo album by Sharleen Spiteri, lead singer of the Scottish band Texas. It was released on 14 July 2008 and peaked at number three in the UK Albums Chart. Singles The first single taken from her debut album was "All The Times I Cried," and debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number 47, before rising to 26 with the physical release. Its full chart run was 47-26-27-32-33-37-47-out. Melody debuted at number 3 in the UK Albums Chart, and its chart run in the first five weeks was 3-5-7-5-8. The album has so far been certified Gold in the UK for sales of over 100,000 copies. Bellshill Maternity Hospital was a health facility at Bellshill in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. History The hospital was built as a poor law hospital in the 1870s. It became an infectious diseases hospital in 1892 and a maternity hospital in 1917. An early obstetric flying squad was established at the hospital in the 1930s. It joined the National Health Service in 1948. A modern facility, designed by Gillespie, Kidd & Coia was opened by the Queen in July 1962.
