Shahr-e Naw (; ), also spelled Share Naw, Shahre Naow or Shari Naw, is an affluent neighborhood in the northwestern section of Kabul, Afghanistan. It is a downtown commercial area housing most of the bigger buildings such as office centers, shopping centers, education centers, embassies, supermarkets, hotels, banks, hospitals, mosques, and apartments. To its west lies Karte Sakhi, and to its east is the affluent Wazir Akbar Khan neighborhood. Its name in a general sense means ''New Town'', which is taken as it was first built in the early 20th century as a 'new' urban extension north of the historic city of Kabul. Kabul is the capital and largest city of Afghanistan. Located in the eastern half of the country, it is also a municipality, forming part of the Kabul Province. Abdul Rahman Mosque
The Abdul Rahman Mosque (; Dari: مسجد عبدالرحمان), also known as the Grand Mosque of Kabul, is one of the largest mosques in Afghanistan. It is located in one of Kabul's central commercial areas called Deh Afghanan, near the Pashtunistan Square, Zarnegar Park, and across the once popular ''Plaza Hotel''. The building is three stories high, built on of land. One floor of the building is dedicated to women only. The mosque is named after an influential Afghan businessman named Hajji Abdul Rahman who died but the project was continued by his sons. Construction of the mosque began in 2001 by Hajji Abdur Rahman but was delayed for several years due to red tape. The mosque has the capacity to serve 10,000 people at a time. There is also a madrasa inside the mosque and a library containing 150,000 books. The Jamhuriat Hospital is a state-owned hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Kabul Grand Hotel (formerly the Kabul Serena Hotel) is a luxury hotel in downtown Kabul, Afghanistan. It is located between Wazir Akbar Khan and Deh Afghanan neighborhoods, near the Arg and next to Zarnegar Park. History The property was built in 1945 as the Kabul Hotel. Shahr-e Naw Park (), also known as Pārk-e Shahr-e Now, is a general public park in the Shahr-e Naw district of Kabul, Afghanistan. The Arg (; ; ) is the presidential palace of Afghanistan, located in Kabul. Safi Airways Co. (; ) was the first and largest privately owned airline in Afghanistan. The airline had its headquarters in Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul, Afghanistan, and an administrative office in the Dubai Airport Free Zone.
