Sharad Gogate
Sharad Gogate, born Sharadchandra Prabhakar Gogate ( mr, शरद्चन्द्र प्रभाकर गोगटे) on 27 June 1936, is a Marathi publisher and writer from Maharashtra, India. Biography Sharad Gogate is the son of Prabhakar Gopal Gogate and Sumati Prabhakar Gogate of Bhusawal. His father and both his grandfathers were practicing lawyers, and his initial goal was to follow them into a law career. He went to Pune for his education in 1953, attending Fergusson College and ILS Law College. After he earned his L.L.B., he considered practicing in the Mumbai High Court but after working at a large book shop called Deccan Book Stall in Deccan Gymkhana, Pune, his love of books led him to become a bookseller instead. In 1968 Gogate opened his own book shop called Saraswat ( mr, सारस्वत). He started a publishing company in 1975 called Shubhada Saraswat ( mr, शुभदा – सारस्वत). Bhusawal
Bhusawal is the largest municipal council (established in 1882) in the Jalgaon district of the Indian state of Maharashtra, situated along the banks of the river Tapi. The city emerged as a major railway junction during the British Raj, and still remains the administrative headquarters of the Bhusawal Division of the Central Railways. Shubhada Sharad Gogate ( mr, शुभदा शरद गोगटे), born 2 September 1943 as Pushpa Ranade ( mr, - पुष्पा रानडे), is a Marathi author from Maharashtra, India. Biography Shubhada Gogate is the daughter of Dinkar Damodar Ranade and Sarojini Dinkar Ranade of Nasik. As a child, she was a voracious reader of Marathi- and English-language books, magazines and circulars, and wrote many short stories. She completed her B.Sc. in chemistry in Nasik in 1962 and worked as a school teacher for a few years. She married Sharad Gogate in 1966, who was in the book-selling field and later published books. As a bookseller and publisher’s wife with a keen interest in her husband’s work, she soon learned the trade of making and selling books. Fergusson College
Fergusson College is an autonomous public-private college offering various courses in the streams of arts and science in the city of Pune, India. It was founded in 1885 by the Deccan Education Society. Professor Vaman Shivram Apte was its first principal. Social reformer, journalist, thinker and educationist Gopal Ganesh Agarkar served as the second principal from August 1892, till his death in June 1895. The college is named after Scottish-born Sir James Fergusson, the Governor of Bombay, the college has been under the jurisdiction of the University of Pune. In May 2018, Fergusson college was upgraded to a unitary university following an update from Ministry of HRD.
