Admiral William Halsey had ordered the U.S. Third Fleet to sail into Typhoon Cobra "to see what they were made of," and, despite the crew's urging, Gerstley refused to disobey the order, arguing that there had never been a mutiny in the history of the U.S. Navy and that "somebody had to die". The incident inspired the novel '' The Caine Mutiny''. Eleanor Gerstley was three months pregnant when her husband died. In 1948, she married Gerald M ...

Revelations (Audioslave Album)
''Revelations'' is the third and final studio album by American rock supergroup Audioslave, released on September 4, 2006 internationally and a day later in the United States through Epic Records and Interscope Records. Chris Cornell quit the band in February 2007 and the remaining members disbanded Audioslave rather than looking for a new vocalist since they were busy with a reunion of Rage Against the Machine. Background and recording According to guitarist Tom Morello, most of the 20 songs that Audioslave brought to the studio for possible inclusion on ''Revelations'' had been written before the band went on their most recent U.S. tour, so they were able to "orkout the kinks of some of these songs in front of a live audience". Many of the songs incorporate 1960s and '70s soul and funk influences that were new for the band, with Morello saying the album "sounds like Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind & Fire", and Chris Cornell referring to his new "Seventies funk and R&B-flavor vo ...

Music Of Battlestar Galactica (reimagining)
The music of the 2004 TV series Battlestar Galactica (2004 TV series), ''Battlestar Galactica'' is a body of work largely credited to the composers Bear McCreary and Richard Gibbs. The music of ''Battlestar Galactica'' displays a variety of ethnic influences and generally does not conform to the "orchestral" style of many science fiction scores. The music of ''Battlestar Galactica'' makes use of the technique called "leitmotif". A leitmotif is a phrase or melodic cell that signifies a character, place, plot element, mood, idea, relationship or other specific part of the story. It is commonly used in modern film scoring as a device to mentally anchor certain parts of a film to the soundtrack. Of chief importance for a leitmotif is that it must be recognizable enough for a listener to latch onto while being flexible enough to undergo variation and development. However, the development of leitmotifs was not part of the composers' (Bear McCreary) original plan: Background When he beg ...
