The following is a list of pirates in the ''One Piece'' manga, by Eiichiro Oda, and related media of its franchise. For other charecters in the series, see: List of ''One Piece'' characters. The series takes place in a fictional universe where vast numbers of characters possess various superhuman abilities. The majority of the characters are human, but the cast also includes other humanoid races. Many of the characters possess abilities gained by eating "Devil Fruits". Several of the pirates in the series search for the mythical "One Piece" treasure to become the Pirate King. Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence by ship or boat-borne attackers upon another ship or a coastal area, typically with the goal of stealing cargo and valuable goods, or taking hostages. Those who conduct acts of piracy are called pirates, and vessels used for piracy are called pirate ships.
