Shankar Kumbi
Shankar Kumbi (born June 1958) is a noted Indian social worker and environmentalist in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. He is the president of a non-governmental organization, ''Hubli Dharwad Nagarika Parisar Samithi'', he founded in 1995. and an executive committee member of ''Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha'' (KVS). He has been rewarded with many awards for his contribution to the society. At a very young age he started devoting himself in social work. He is the recipient of "Karnataka state youth award" in 1990. For his notable work towards protection of environment, he was awarded the Parisar Award in 1998 and Rajyotsava Puraskar in 2012, by the Government of Karnataka. Career He was earlier aligned with Janata Dal, though later joined the BJP, he has also served as Councillor in Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) for a decade. Dharwad
Dharwad (), also known as Dharwar, is a city located in the northwestern part of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the headquarters of the Dharwad district of Karnataka and forms a contiguous urban area with the city of Hubballi. It was merged with Hubballi in 1962 to form the twin cities of Hubballi–Dharwad, Hubballi-Dharwad. It covers an area of and is located northwest of Bangalore, on National Highway 48 (India), NH-48, between Bangalore and Pune. In 2016, Hubli-Dharwad was selected for solar city / green city master plans. Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation
Municipal Corporation of the City of Hubballi-Dharward or Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is the Municipal Corporation responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad, located in North Western part of Karnataka state in India. The organization is known, in short, as HDMC. This civic administrative body administers an area of 202.3 km2. HDMC consists of 82 elected members from four Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Hubballi-Dharwad. Presently the Council is under suspended animation pending election of new members.
