Shane Dowling
Shane Dowling (born 16 June 1954) is a former Australian politician. He was mayor of South Melbourne, Victoria, South Melbourne from 1989 to 1991 and List of mayors of Geelong, mayor of Geelong from December 2004 to November 2005. Dowling is a former police officer, rising to become an inspector in the Victoria Police. He was serving in Melton, Victoria, Melton at the time of his election as Geelong mayor. He was elected to the City of Greater Geelong council in 2001, representing Deakin Ward, and was re-elected in 2004. He was elected mayor by the other councillors after the 2004 elections, following the failure of incumbent mayor Ed Coppe to hold his seat on the council. Dowling served a one-year term before relinquishing the position to former City of Melbourne councillor Peter McMullin. South Melbourne, Victoria
South Melbourne is an inner suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 3 km south of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Port Phillip local government area. South Melbourne recorded a population of 11,548 at the 2021 census. Historically known as Emerald Hill, it was one of the first of Melbourne's suburbs to adopt full municipal status and is one of Melbourne's oldest suburban areas, notable for its well preserved Victorian era streetscapes. Peter McMullin (born 25 April 1952) is an Australian businessman, lawyer and philanthropist. He was the mayor of Geelong in 2006 and deputy lord mayor of Melbourne between 1996 and 1999.
