Shane Adams
Shane Adams is a Canadian Equestrian Team athlete in modern competitive jousting. He is currently the Captain and owner of North America's Premier Full Contact Jousting Team, The Knights of Valour. He is the former president of the World Championship Jousting Association, and he has founded several competitive jousting tournaments in the United States and Canada. He holds 17 international titles. Adams started as a theatrical jouster for the Toronto Medieval Times dinner show when he was 23. Canadian Equestrian Team
The Canadian Equestrian Team or CET (french: Équipe équestre canadienne or ''EEC'') collectively describes the athletes that represent Canada at the highest levels of international equestrian competition, specifically at the World Championship, Olympic, and Paralympic levels. There many different equestrian disciplines, with separate and overlapping international governing bodies, responsible for different international championship series. Because of this, the term Canadian Equestrian Team has been used by many equestrian sport organizations since 1840 to describe their most senior teams competing for Canada internationally in a variety of disciplines and in a variety of systems. Joust
Jousting is a martial game or hastilude between two horse riders wielding lances with blunted tips, often as part of a tournament. The primary aim was to replicate a clash of heavy cavalry, with each participant trying to strike the opponent while riding towards him at high speed, breaking the lance on the opponent's shield or jousting armour if possible, or unhorsing him. The joust became an iconic characteristic of the knight in Romantic medievalism. The participants experience close to three and a quarter times their body weight in G-forces when the lances collide with their armour. Theatrical Jousting
Coined in the late 20th century by American stunt performer Kent Shelton, the term theatrical jousting refers to a form of live entertainment in which a medieval jousting tournament is recreated in conjunction with a scripted performance. Alternative terms are "jousting reenactment" or "choreographed jousting". The Hanlon-Lees Action Theater is credited with developing the theatrical joust format in 1979; its first appearance was at the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, New York. ''Full Metal Jousting'' is an American reality game show that debuted on the History Channel on February 12, 2012.
