Shahmirzad () is a city in, and the capital of, Shahmirzad District of Mehdishahr County, Semnan province, Iran. It is in the northern part of the country and on the southern slopes of the Alborz Mountains. Demographics Language The Shahmirzadi language (شامرزایی) is a Caspian language close to Mazandarani. Population At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 7,273 in 1,860 households, when it was in the former Mehdishahr District of Semnan County. The following census in 2011 counted 8,882 people in 2,625 households, by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Mehdishahr County. Shahmirzad was transferred to the new Shahmirzad District. The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 11,191 people in 3,789 households. Mazandarani People
Mazanderanis (), also known as the Tabari people or Tabarestani people ( or ), are an Iranian peoplesAcademic American Encyclopedia By Grolier Incorporated, page 294 who are indigenous to the Caspian Sea region of Iran. They are also referred to as Mazanis for short. They inhabit the southern coast of the Caspian Sea and are part of the historical region known as Tabaristan. Baháʼí Faith
The Baháʼí Faith is a religion founded in the 19th century that teaches the Baháʼí Faith and the unity of religion, essential worth of all religions and Baháʼí Faith and the unity of humanity, the unity of all people. Hands Of The Cause
Hand of the Cause was a title given to prominent early members of the Baháʼí Faith, appointed for life by the religion's founders. Of the fifty individuals given the title, the last living was ʻAlí-Muhammad Varqá, who died in 2007. Hands of the Cause played a significant role in propagating the religion, and protecting it from schism. With the death of Shoghi Effendi in 1957, the twenty-seven living Hands of the Cause at the time would be the last appointed. The Universal House of Justice, the governing body first elected in 1963, created the Institution of the Counsellors in 1968 and the appointed Continental Counsellors over time took on the role that the Hands of the Cause were filling. Apostles Of Baháʼu'lláh
The Apostles of Baháʼu'lláh were nineteen prominent followers of Baháʼu'lláh, the founder of the Baháʼí Faith. The apostles were designated as such by Shoghi Effendi, head of the religion in the earlier half of the 20th century, and the list was included in ''The Baháʼí World'', Vol. III (pp. 80–81). These individuals played a vital role in the development of the Baháʼí Faith, consolidating its adherents and bringing its teachings around the world. Hají Ákhúnd
Ḥají Mullá ʻAlí-Akbar S͟hahmírzádí ( 18421910), known as Ḥají Ák͟húnd, was an eminent follower of Baháʼu'lláh, the founder of the Baháʼí Faith. He was appointed a Hand of the Cause, and identified as one of the nineteen Apostles of Baháʼu'lláh. Background Hají Ákhúnd was born in the village of S͟hahmírzád, Iran. He was the son of Mullá Abbas who was a Bábí. Hají Ákhúnd thus grew up in a household where there was some mention of this new religion. After some preliminary studies, he went to Mashhad to attend a religious college. In 1861, he encountered Bábís and converted to the Báb's religion, which caused his immediate expulsion from the college and the city. Neka () is a city in the Central District of Neka County, Mazandaran province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. History Not much is known about this area in geographical or historical accounts of the past, until the Qajar era. However, in the geographical records of the early Islamic period, the name Mirdan of a city near the current city of Neka has been mentioned.
