Shame (The Motels Song)
"Shame" is a song by American new wave band The Motels, which was released in 1985 as the lead single from their fifth studio album ''Shock''. The song was written by Martha Davis and produced by Richie Zito. "Shame" peaked at number 21 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Background Davis was inspired to write "Shame" by the affairs depicted on various soap operas. Referring to the track in the liner notes of ''Anthologyland'' in 2000, Davis commented, "Anyone ever been an adulterer?" "Shame" provided the band with their fourth and final top 40 entry on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Davis told the ''Chicago Tribune'' in 1985, "We have an album we're very proud of, and things started off really great. 'Shame' took off with amazing radio response the first two weeks. The Motels
The Motels are an American new wave band from Berkeley, California, that is best known for the singles " Only the Lonely" and " Suddenly Last Summer", each of which peaked at No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, in 1982 and 1983, respectively. In 1980, The Motels' song " Total Control" reached No. 7 on the Australian chart (for two weeks), and their song " Danger" reached No. 15 on the French chart. Martha Davis, the lead singer, reformed a version of the band called "The Motels featuring Martha Davis" in 1998 and toured under that name with various lineups of musicians. The Dutch Top 40 () is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore radio, offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting. Willem van Kooten, Joost den Draaijer initiated the Top 40 in the Netherlands. The show currently airs on Fridays from 2 to 6 PM on Qmusic (Netherlands), Qmusic. History On January 2, 1965, the first Top 40 was compiled, with its first #1 hit "I Feel Fine" by The Beatles. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top 40 Singles from 1966, and albums chart from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. Paul Sabu (born January 2, 1960) is an American singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist. He is the son of Indian-born film star Sabu and American actress Marilyn Cooper. Scott Thurston
Scott Troy Thurston (born January 10, 1952) is an American guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and session musician. He was a member of the Stooges, and of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, in which he sang harmony vocals and played guitar, keyboards, and harmonica. Musical career Raised in Medford, Oregon, Thurston started out as a session musician.
