Shala
Shala (Šala) was a Mesopotamian goddess of weather and grain and the wife of the weather god Adad. It is assumed that she originated in northern Mesopotamia and that her name might have Hurrian origin. She was worshiped especially in Karkar and in Zabban, regarded as cult centers of her husband as well. She is first attested in the Old Babylonian period, but it is possible that an analogous Sumerian goddess, Medimsha, was already the wife of Adad's counterpart Ishkur in earlier times. Both in a number of relatively late Mesopotamian texts and in modern scholarship she is sometimes conflated or confused with Shalash, a Syrian goddess regarded as the spouse of Dagan. Name It is accepted that Shala's name has no plausible Akkadian etymology, and it is possible that it was derived from the Hurrian word ''šāla'', daughter. ''Shala'' is a 2011 Marathi drama / romantic film. The screenplay of film is adapted from the a novel of the same name by Milind Bokil. Directed by Sujay Dahake and produced by Vivek Wagh, Nilesh Navalakha under Great Maratha Entertainment, Nishad Audio Visuals and Navalakha Arts Banner, the film stars Anshuman Joshi and Ketaki Mategaonkar in the lead roles. The film won the Silver Lotus Award at the 59th National Film Awards in the Best Feature Film in Marathi category and National Film Award for Best Screenplay. Nemnyuga
The Nemnyuga (russian: Немнюга) is a river in Leshukonsky, Pinezhsky, and Mezensky Districts of Arkhangelsk Oblast in Russia. It is a right tributary of the Kuloy River. It is long, and the area of its basin . The principal tributaries are the Korda (left), the Parsova (left), and the Shala (right). The river basin of the Nemnyuga comprises a vast area between the Kuloy and the Mezen rivers which belongs to three districts of Arkhangelsk Oblast, Leshukonsky, Pinezhsky, and Mezensky Districts. The source of the Nemnyuga is located in Leshukonsky District, very close to the border with Pinezhsky District. The river flows west, crosses into Pinezhsky District, and turns north. At the confluence with its right tributary, the Berezov, the Nemnyuga turns north-west and starts meandering. Shala is a historical tribe and region of northern Albania in the valley of the river Shalë, in the Dukagjin highlands. At the end of the 19th century the tribe was Catholic and had c. 3,000 members. Today, descendants are widespread in Kosovo and are concentrated in Shala e Bajgorës. Etymology The etymology of ''Shala'' is unclear. It has been connected to the Albanian term ''shalë(sinë)'' denoting an arid or infertile land, however, this etymology does not seem likely considering that the Shala Valley is among the only regions in the Albanian Alps suitable for agriculture. Folk tradition connects their tribal name to the word ''shalë'' ("saddle"), a reference to the legend in which the ancestor of the Shala was given a saddle by his brothers as they departed from one another. The Shalë ( sq-definite, Shala) is a river flowing inside the Albanian Alps in northern Albania. Its source is in the Albanian Alps, near the village Theth, close to the border with Montenegro. The Shalë flows generally south through the municipal units Shalë, Shosh and Temal. It flows into the Koman Reservoir, fed and drained by the river Drin, near the village Telum. It has a length of 37 km from the source at the top of Radohina to Dri, it springs at the source of Shtraza at the top of Theth village, at the foot of the top of Radohina, from where it descends down through the valley of Shala, from Thethi, Ndërlysa and Musha, from Breg-Lumi to Porta e Shalës (Gorge of Rrshqëm), through Lotaj and in the valley of Shoshi, while its discharge goes to Lesniqe in Dri (today Lake Koman) . The tree is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet and across the Himalayan regions . Lake Shala (also spelled Shalla) is an alkaline lake located in the Ethiopian Rift Valley, in the Abijatta-Shalla National Park. Overview The lake is 28 kilometers long and 12 wide,''Statistical Abstract of Ethiopia for 1967/68'' with a surface area of 329 square kilometers.Baxter, R. M.
