Shaig Asgarov
Shaig Asgarov (born 10 January 1966, in Agsu, Azerbaijan) is an Azerbaijani academic and public figure. Biography Upon leaving Agsu city high school No. 2 in 1993, he did his military service in the Far East in 1984–1986. He graduated from Journalism Department of Baku State University in 1992 and Foreign Economic Relations Building and Public Regulation Department of Azerbaijan State Economic University in 1997. In 2002, Asgarov successfully completed “Public and Municipality Administration” specialty at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Azerbaijan, officially the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a transcontinental and landlocked country at the boundary of West Asia and Eastern Europe. Agsu (city)
Agsu () is a city in and capital of the Agsu District of Azerbaijan. History Abbasgulu Bakikhanov noted that Nadir Shah issued an order for resettlement of the inhabitants of Shamakhi to the newly laid down city on the bank of Agsu river, in 1735. At present, the name of Agsu city (which is the centre of Agsu district) is shown as New Shamakhi in some sources. It is related with resettlement of the inhabitants of Shamakhi to Agsu city. Since that time, historic Shamakhi has been called Old Shamakhi, Agsu – New Shamakhi. The name of the city in the 18th century was frequently shown as Agsu deriving from "Agsuchay". "Ruined city" – ruins of the Agsu city of the memory of the 18th century is located in the north of Agsu city. S. Baku State University
Baku State University (BSU) (BDU; ) is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Established on 1 September 1919 by the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the university started with faculties of history and philology, physics and mathematics, and law and medicine, with an initial enrollment of 1094. The first rector of BSU was V.I.Razumovsky, a former professor of surgery at Kazan University. In 1930, the government of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic ordered the university shut down in accordance with a reorganization of higher education, and the university was replaced with the Supreme Pedagogical Institute. However, in 1934 the university was reestablished again and continued to work through the difficult years of World War II experiencing a shortage of faculty members. Azerbaijan State University of Economics () is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. UNEC was founded in 1930, and it is one of the biggest educational institutions of the South Caucasus.
