Shaider
is a tokusatsu television show that aired from March 2, 1984 to March 8, 1985. It is the last of the "Space Sheriff Series" of the broader Metal Hero Series franchise, the previous two being ''Space Sheriff Gavan'' and '' Space Sheriff Sharivan''. Action footage from ''Shaider'' was used for Season 2 of ''VR Troopers''. For distribution purposes, Toei refers to this television series as ''Space Captain Sheider''. Plot In college studying archaeology, Dai Sawamura deciphers the symbols of the Nazca Lines in Peru. Impressed by this feat, the recruit and train him to be Earth's third Space Sheriff. He's given the code name ''Shaider'' in memory of an ancient warrior who defeated Emperor Kubilai and brought down his Fuuma Empire 12,000 years ago. Metal Hero Series
The is a metaseries of tokusatsu superhero TV series produced by Toei for Japanese television. The protagonists of the ''Metal Hero Series'' are mainly space, military and police-based characters who are typically either androids, cyborgs, or human beings who don "metallic" armored suits. Henceforth, most of the Metal Heroes are also referenced as another example of the "Henshin (transforming) Heroes" genre. Usually, the genre revolves around a technological theme where technology, in the right hands, can be used for the greater good. The shows were produced by Toei from 1982 through 1999 in conjunction with their other Tokusatsu superhero shows, '' Kamen Rider'' and '' Super Sentai''. VR Troopers
''VR Troopers'' is a syndicated live action superhero-adventure television series produced and distributed by Saban Entertainment from 1994 to 1996. The show tried to profit from the fascination with virtual reality in the mid-1990s as well as the success of Saban's other property, ''Power Rangers''. ''VR Troopers'' was the first official "sister series" to ''Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers''. Hiroshi Tsuburaya
was a Japanese actor. The grandchild of Eiji Tsuburaya, who was also the first creator of the Ultraman Series, and the third son of Hajime Tsuburaya who became the second creator of the Ultraman Series after Eiji Tsuburaya's death on January 25, 1970. He was born in Setagaya, Tokyo. He became known to ''tokusatsu'' series audiences for playing the leading role in '' Uchuu Keiji Shaider'' (''Space Sheriff Shaider'') as Dai Sawamura/Shaider. Death Tsuburaya died of liver cancer on July 24, 2001, due to alcoholism developed through the years. He was 37 years old. Space Sheriff Gavan
, also known as ''Space Cop Gabin'' and ''Space Cop Gaban'', is a Japanese Tokusatsu series produced by Toei Company that aired on TV Asahi from March 5, 1982 to February 25, 1983. The series launched the Metal Hero franchise and was the first installment in the ''Space Sheriff'' series. Plot Earth is invaded by the criminal organization known as Makuu, led by Don Horror, who had first destroyed a space colony near Earth. Don Horror wants to dominate the whole universe, and the Earth represents an obstacle that he has to overcome by turning it into a domain for all evil. In response to Makuu's attack, Space Sheriff Gavan of the is deployed to Earth to defend his mother's home world. was a Japanese narrator and voice actor from the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. He was the founder of Ōhira Production and was also attached to 81 Produce. Shinichiro Sawai
was a Japanese film director and screenwriter. Career Born in Hamamatsu, Sawai studied German at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Graduating in 1961, he joined the Toei Company as an assistant director and worked under such directors as Masahiro Makino and Noribumi Suzuki. Space Sheriff Sharivan
is the second installment in Toei's Metal Hero Series franchise and aired on TV Asahi from March 4, 1983 to February 24, 1984. It served as a direct sequel to its predecessor, ''Space Sheriff Gavan'' and featured many of the same characters. It was aired in the Philippines on RPN from 1986 to 1987. For distribution purposes, Toei refers to this television series as ''Space Guardian Shariban''. Plot Initially appearing in ''Space Sheriff Gavan'', Den Iga is attacked by a monster called Buffalo Doubler, member of the Space Mafia Makuu.
