Shahudul Haque
Shahudul Haque is a former Inspector General of Police (Bangladesh), Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police during 2003–2004. Earlier, he was an Army officer who later joined Bangladesh Police. Career Huda served in the Pakistan Army during the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was one of 17 former Army officers recruited into Bangladesh Police by President Ziaur Rahman. Dismissal In August 2003, AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, an additional judge of the High Court, issued a notice of query on the then IGP Haque while drawing contempt proceedings against five police personnel. According to Manik, a traffic policeman on duty did not salute, while his car passed in the Farmgate area in Dhaka earlier in June the same year. Mudabbir Hossain Chowdhury PSC (1947 – 1 May 2025) was a Bangladeshi police officer who served as the Inspector General of the Bangladesh Police from 2001 to 2003. He was also the commissioner of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police in 1996 and 1997. Career Chowdhury was a cadet at the Pakistan Military Academy and retired from the army as a lieutenant. Ashraful Huda
Ashraful Huda is a former officer of the Bangladesh Police who served as the Inspector General of Police during 2004–2005. Ashraful joined the Pakistani army as a commissioned officer in 1967 and served in Bangladesh army after independence. Career Ashraf served as the principal of Bangladesh Police Academy from 1996 to 1997. Ashraf took charge as the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on 8 April 2003 after his retirement as deputy inspector general of police. Ziaur Rahman
Ziaur Rahman (19 January 193630 May 1981) was a Bangladeshi military officer and politician who served as the sixth president of Bangladesh from 1977 until Assassination of Ziaur Rahman, his assassination in 1981. Abul Hossain Mohammed Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik is a retired judge of the Appellate Division of Bangladesh. He drew controversy after submitting verdicts in cases after his retirement, making questionable remarks on television as well as criminal misconduct. Career Mr Manik was born in Munshiganj (Bikrampur) Manik started his legal career in 1978 as a lawyer in the Bangladesh High Court. He was appointed the deputy attorney general of Bangladesh in 1996. 2004 Dhaka Grenade Attack
The 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League in Bangabandhu Avenue (now Shaheed Abrar Fahad Avenue) on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 PM after Sheikh Hasina, the then leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck used as the stage. Hasina also sustained some injuries in the attack. Events and casualties Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina had been speaking at a public meeting in Bangabandhu Avenue, protesting against blasts against AL workers in Sylhet.
