Shahrisabz District () is a district of Qashqadaryo Region in Uzbekistan. The capital lies at the city Shahrisabz, itself not part of the district. It has an area of and its population is 223,800 (2021 est.). The regions (viloyat) of Uzbekistan are divided into 175 districts (''tuman''). The districts are listed by region, in the general direction from west to east. Uzbekistan is divided into 12 regions (''viloyatlar'', singular viloyat, ''viloyati'' in compound, e.g. Toshkent ''viloyati''), 1 autonomous republic (''respublika'', ''respublikasi'' in compound, e.g. Qaraqalpaqstan Avtonom ''Respublikasi''), and 1 independent city (''shahar'' or ''shahri'' in compounds, e.g. Toshkent ''shahri''). Qashqadaryo Region ( uz, Qashqadaryo viloyati, Қашқадарё вилояти, قەشقەدەريا ۋىلايەتى; old spelling ''Kashkadarya Region'', russian: Кашкадарьинская область) is one of the regions of Uzbekistan, located in the south-eastern part of the country in the basin of the river Qashqadaryo and on the western slopes of the Pamir-Alay mountains. Shahrisabz
Shakhrisabz ( uz, Шаҳрисабз ; tg, Шаҳрисабз; fa, شهر سبز, shahr-e sabz: "city of green" / "verdant city"; russian: Шахрисабз) is a district-level city in Qashqadaryo Region in southern Uzbekistan. The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has selected Shakhrisabz as its tourism capital for 2024. It is located approximately 80 km south of Samarkand, at an altitude of 622 m. Its population is 140,500 (2021). Historically known as Kesh or Kish, Shahrisabz was once a major city of Central Asia and was an important urban center of Sogdiana, a province of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia. Uzbekistan Time
Uzbekistan time is the standard time in Uzbekistan; it is 5 hours ahead of UTC, UTC+05:00. The standard time uses no daylight saving time, though there has been constant debate whether to adopt it in order to increase leisure time. After the breakup of the Soviet Union there were two time zones in Uzbekistan. In the Soviet era most time zones were daylight time in the winter and double daylight time in the summer. The western part of the country observed Samarkand Time 5 or 6 hours ahead of UTC. The eastern part observed Tashkent Time 6 or 7 hours ahead of UTC. In 1991 the clocks did not move forward in the spring to maintain single daylight time only in the summer. That fall a unified time zone was adopted 5 hours ahead of UTC.
