Shahid Fakouri Metro Station is a station of Line 2 of the Mashhad Urban Railway. The station became Line 2's southern terminus when it opened on May 3rd, 2025. Mashhad ( ; ), historically also known as Mashad, Meshhed, or Meshed in English, is the second-most-populous city in Iran, located in the relatively remote north-east of the country about from Tehran. Mashhad Urban Railway
Mashhad Urban Railway (, the literal translation of the name from Persian) is a rapid transit system in Mashhad, Iran. It is the second oldest rapid transit system in Iran. The system has been known by a number of terms, including "light rail" or "light metro" and "urban rail" or "metro", but while its lines are built to different standards the system features full-grade separation and the frequent headways generally associated with rapid transit. The Mashhad Urban Railway operates Line 1 from 6 to 22:00 daily. As of 2025, the system operates 3 lines; Line 1, inaugurated in 2011, is an east-west light rail line connecting to the airport. Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS) is a medical school in Iran. Located in Razavi Khorasan province in the city of Mashhad, it was established in 1949 with Ferdowsi University of Mashad and separated in 1986 from its parent institution by national legislation. MUMS has 8 faculties and operates 32 hospitals plus 179 rural and 147 urban healthcare centers. Its faculties include 600 teaching staff, 1700 physicians, 140 dentists, 130 pharmacists, and 25,402 staff employees. As of 2023, its enrollment range is 9,000-9,999.
