Shahanur is the river in Western Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state in India. It is a tributary of Purna river. It flows through the Anjangaon Surji 444705 Amravati district and Akola district. The Purna River is a major left-bank tributary of Godavari River originating in the Ajanta Range of hills in Aurangabad District, Maharashtra.The river lies in the rain shadow region of Maharashtra, on the Deccan Plateau, flowing through the districts of Aurangabad, Jalna, Buldana, Hingoli and Parbhani with a large catchment area measuring about 15,579 km2. The Satpura Range, formerly also known as the Seeonee Hills, is a range of hills in central India.
