ShadPS4
shadPS4 is a free and open-source emulator for the PlayStation 4. It supports Windows, Linux and MacOS. shadPS4 can currently only emulate some games to varying degrees of support. Development Development of shadPS4 was started by George Moralis in October 2022. Moralis previously worked on the PS1 emulator PCSX and founded the PS2 emulator PCSX2, going by the user name "shadow". At the time, PS4 emulation had not advanced very far, with most existing emulators being only able to run 2D games reliably. On July 2, 2024, shadPS4 version 0.1.0 was released, being able to launch ''Sonic Mania'', '' One Piece: Unlimited World Red'' and some other 3D games such as '' Resident Evil: Origins Collection'' and ''Persona 5''. A major factor contributing to its support for more 3D games was that addition of a shader recompiler to its architecture. By July 31, it could run ''Red Dead Redemption'' at 25 frames per second, and it was able to launch ''Dark Souls''. By December 7, 2024, ...

RPCS3
RPCS3 is a free and open-source video game console emulator, emulator and debugger for the Sony PlayStation 3 that runs on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and macOS operating systems, allowing PlayStation 3 games and software to be played and debugged on a personal computer. As of August 2024, nearly 70% of PlayStation 3 games have been classified as "playable", meaning that a significant portion of the native library can be played from start to finish without any major problems. Development Despite the general idea that the complexity of the PlayStation 3's PlayStation 3 technical specifications#Central processing unit, Cell architecture would prevent it from being emulated, RPCS3 released on May 23, 2011, by programmers DH and Hykem as a working emulator. The developers initially hosted the project on Google Developers#Google Code, Google Code and eventually mo ...

Image Texture
An image texture is the small-scale structure perceived on an image, based on the spatial arrangement of color or intensities. It can be quantified by a set of metrics calculated in image processing. Image texture metrics give us information about the whole image or selected regions. Linda G. Shapiro and George C. Stockman, ''Computer Vision'', Upper Saddle River: Prentice–Hall, 2001 Image textures can be artificially created or found in natural scenes captured in an image. Image textures are one way that can be used to help in segmentation or classification of images. For more accurate segmentation the most useful features are spatial frequency and an average grey level. To analyze an image texture in computer graphics, there are two ways to approach the issue: Structured Approach and Statistical Approach. Structured Approach A structured approach sees an image texture as a set of primitive texels in some regular or repeated pattern. This works well when analyzing a ...

Frame Per Second
Frame rate, most commonly expressed in frame/s, or FPS, is typically the frequency (rate) at which consecutive images (frames) are captured or displayed. This definition applies to film and video cameras, computer animation, and motion capture systems. In these contexts, frame rate may be used interchangeably with and refresh rate, which are expressed in hertz. Additionally, in the context of computer graphics performance, FPS is the rate at which a system, particularly a GPU, is able to generate frames, and refresh rate is the frequency at which a display shows completed frames. In electronic camera specifications frame rate refers to the maximum possible rate frames could be captured, but in practice, other settings (such as exposure time) may reduce the actual frequency to a lower number than the frame rate. Human vision The temporal sensitivity and resolution of human vision varies depending on the type and characteristics of visual stimulus, and it differs between individu ...

The Last Guardian
''The Last Guardian'' is a 2016 action-adventure game developed by Japan Studio and GenDesign and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. Players control a boy who befriends a giant legendary creature named Trico. Team Ico began developing ''The Last Guardian'' in 2007. It was designed and directed by Fumito Ueda, and shares stylistic, thematic, and gameplay elements with his previous games, '' Ico'' (2001) and '' Shadow of the Colossus'' (2005). He employed the "design through subtraction" approach he had used for his previous games, removing elements that did not contribute to the core theme of the connection between the boy and Trico. Sony announced ''The Last Guardian'' at E3 2009 with a planned release in 2011 for the PlayStation 3. It suffered numerous delays; Ueda and other Team Ico members departed Sony, forming the studio GenDesign, and hardware difficulties moved the game to the PlayStation 4 in 2012, drawing speculation that it would no ...
