Seychelles Scout Association
The Seychelles Scout Association (SSA) is the national Scouting organization of the Seychelles. Scouting in Seychelles was founded in 1927 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in 2002. The association has 372 members (as of 2011). History Scouting in Seychelles started in 1927 as an overseas branch of The Scout Association (UK) and aimed mainly to United Kingdom, British boys. Later it was opened to all boys. In 1977, Scouting was banned by the France-Albert René, government of the now independent country. The Scout movement was readmitted in 1994 and became a member of WOSM in 2002. Since 1998, the SSA is twinned to the ''Scouting in Greater London South West, Greater London South West County'' of the Scout Association (UK). Coco De Mer
''Lodoicea'', commonly known as the sea coconut, coco de mer, or double coconut, is a monotypic genus in the palm family. The sole species, ''Lodoicea maldivica'', is endemic to the islands of Praslin and Curieuse in the Seychelles. It has the largest seed in the plant kingdom. It was also formerly found on the small islets of St Pierre, Chauve-Souris, and Ile Ronde (Round Island), all located near Praslin, but had become extinct there for a time until recently reintroduced. Taxonomy The name of the genus ''Lodoicea'' is given by Philibert Commerson, it may be derived from ''Lodoicus'', a Latinised form of ''Louis'' (typically '' Ludovicus''), in honour of King Louis XV of France. Other sources say that ''Lodoicea'' is from Laodice, the daughter of Priam and Hecuba. ''Lodoicea'' belongs to the Coryphoideae subfamily and tribe Borasseae.
