''Sexsational'' is the only solo album by American R&B singer Tony Thompson of the group Hi-Five. It was released June 23, 1995, on Giant Records. The album spawned two singles, one of which, the top 20 R&B hit "I Wanna Love Like That", became his highest-charting sole appearance on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, peaking inside the top sixty, where it reached #59 on that chart. Critical reception ''Sexsational'' received positive reviews, particularly praise for Thompson's vocals, but was criticized for the album's weak material, with Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic, writing, "when given the right material, Thompson is convincing, but he isn't powerful enough to rescue weak songs." and awarded the album three out of five stars. Tony Thompson (singer)
Anthony Ulysses Thompson, Jr. (September 2, 1975 – June 1, 2007) was an American singer–songwriter. Thompson was best known as the lead vocalist of the American R&B quintet Hi-Five, which had hit singles such as " I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)" and "I Can't Wait Another Minute". After the group disbanded in 1994, Thompson found solo success the following year with his debut album '' Sexsational'' in 1995. Biography Thompson was born in Waco, Texas and raised in Oklahoma City. He was named after his father, Anthony Thompson, Sr. In 1984, he started singing solos in the local church choir at the age of eight. He then started singing in local talent shows. Troy Taylor (record Producer)
Troy Christopher Taylor is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer best known for his production work and mentorship of R&B singer Trey Songz. Taylor is also the CEO of Songbook Entertainment, and has worked extensively with acts including The Isley Brothers, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Boyz II Men. Taylor, signed in early 1990 to a solo record deal with Motown, decided to instead explore songwriting and production for other artists, placing records from his unreleased debut album on other projects he was writing for at the time. Carlton Neron Thomas (born June 15, 1972) is an American R&B singer. Biography Thomas was born in Aurora, Illinois and attended East Aurora High School. He sang around Chicago and became a member of The Fourmula. He branched out, however, and traveled to New York City, where he sang at clubs during open-mic nights. One such performance caught the eye of Sean "Puffy" Combs, who signed Thomas to Bad Boy Entertainment in 1997. Henry R. "Hank" Cosby (May 12, 1928 – January 22, 2002) was an American songwriter, arranger, producer and musician who worked for Motown Records from its formative years. Along with Sylvia Moy, Cosby was a key collaborator with Stevie Wonder from 1963–1970. Cosby co-wrote and/or co-produced three No. 1 US hits: Stevie Wonder's "Fingertips" (1963), The Supremes' " Love Child" (1968), and The Miracles' "The Tears of a Clown" (1968). "My Cherie Amour" is a 1969 song by Motown singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder. The song reached number 4 on the ''Billboard'' pop chart in August to be Wonder's third Top Ten hit. The song was co-written by Wonder, Sylvia Moy, and Henry Cosby; Cosby also served as producer of the song. At the end of 1969, the song was ranked number 32 for the year. Background The kernel of the song, originally titled "Oh, My Marsha" (or Marcia), was written in one hour in 1966 about a girlfriend of Wonder's at the Michigan School for the Blind in Lansing, Michigan. Tamla Records founder Berry Gordy listened to the song, and he thought it could be improved with more development.
