Ambrose Hundley Sevier
Ambrose Hundley Sevier (November 4, 1801 – December 31, 1848) was an attorney, politician and planter from Arkansas. A member of the political Conway-Johnson family that dominated the state and national delegations in the antebellum years, he was elected by the legislature as a Democratic U.S. Senator. He served as Speaker of the Arkansas House of Representatives. Early life and education Ambrose Hundley Sevier was born near Greeneville, Tennessee in Greene County, Tennessee. Sevier moved to Missouri in 1820 and to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1821. In Arkansas he became clerk of the Territorial House of Representatives. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1823. Marriage and family Sevier married Juliette Johnson, the sister of Robert Ward Johnson, who also became an influential politician in the state. Charlotte Sevier
Charlotte Sevier (1847 – 20 October 1930), also known as Mrs Sevier, was a direct disciple of Swami Vivekananda and was British in origin. She, together with her husband James Henry Sevier established the Advaita Ashrama, a branch of the Ramakrishna Order, in Mayavati in the Himalayas. Meeting Swami Vivekananda James Henry Sevier was a non-commissioned officer in the British army. Both he and his wife Charlotte Elizabeth Sevier had been seekers of spiritual knowledge. In the course of his second visit to London, Swami Vivekananda delivered several lectures and also participated in private parlors. The Sevier couple had attended the lectures and was attracted by the philosophy, esp. his dissertations on Advaita Vedanta, the non-dual aspects of Vedanta of Sankaracharya. Corey Daniel Sevier (born July 3, 1984) is a Canadian actor, known for his role on the Fox television series '' North Shore'' as Gabriel McKay, as Timmy Cabot in ''Lassie'' and as Jay Barry Lee in ''Summer of the Monkeys''. Henry Clay "Happy" Sevier, Sr. (January 24, 1896 – June 1, 1974) was a lawyer and politician from Tallulah, Louisiana. One of a large political family, he served from 1936 to 1952 as a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from Madison Parish. Early life and family Sevier was born in 1896 in Madison Parish, Louisiana, a son of the former Roxie Roberta Allen and James Douglas Sevier, Sr., a native of Port Gibson, in Claiborne County in southwestern Mississippi. His parents moved to Madison Parish in 1880, where his father became a planter. Sevier attended local segregated schools for his lower education. John Sevier
John Sevier (September 23, 1745 September 24, 1815) was an American soldier, frontiersman, and politician, and one of the founding fathers of the State of Tennessee. A member of the Democratic-Republican Party, he played a leading role in Tennessee's pre-statehood period, both militarily and politically, and he was elected the state's first governor in 1796.
