Severn Stars
Severn Stars are an netball in England, English netball team based at the University of Worcester. The team is named after the River Severn, which runs through Worcester, England, Worcester and Gloucester, the original home cities of the two universities. Severn Stars were formed in 2016 in England, 2016 and since 2017 Netball Superleague season, 2017 their senior team has played in the Netball Superleague. The franchise disbanded at the end of the 2024 season after it was not offered a contract in the relaunched Netball Superleague. Birmingham Panthers (netball), Birmingham Panthers was instead named as a franchise for the region and entered its inaugural season in 2025. Nia Jones
Nia Jones (born 6 April 1992) is an athlete who has represented Wales internationally at both netball and football. She won the FAW Young Player of the Year Award in 2011. She was nominated for the SportingWales Magazine and UWIC Rising Star Award in 2013. She currently plays for Adran Premier club Swansea City. Early and personal life Jones was born in Wrexham. Phumza Maweni (born September 4, 1984) is a South African netball player in the Netball Superleague in the UK, representing Team Bath Netball. Maweni was raised in Cala, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. She went on to compete for the Kingdom Stars and Southern Stings in the South African Brutal Fruit Netball Cup and has also played several seasons in England's Netball Superleague, first for the Loughborough Lightning and later for the Severn Stars. Maryka Holtzhausen (born 2 June 1987) is a former South African netball player. She played in the positions of GA and WA. She was a member of the South Africa national netball team, and competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore. She also participated in the 2010 World Netball Series and the 2011 World Netball Series. She played in the 2012 Netball Quad Series, and in the same year, she won a bronze medal in 2012 Fast5 Netball World Series with the Fast5 Proteas. Liana Leota
Liana Leota (née Barrett-Chase; born 31 October 1984) is a New Zealand netball player. She is a member of the national netball team, the Silver Ferns, and plays for Severn Stars in the British Netball Superleague. Leota was a member of the Southern Sting in 2007, which won the National Bank Cup that year. She also played for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in 2006 and the Western Flyers from 2003–2005. She continued playing in Invercargill with the Southern Steel in the new ANZ Championship, which started in 2008. That same year, Leota debuted in the Silver Ferns against Australia. Towera Vinkhumbo (born 14 February 1991), also referred to as Towera Vinkhumbo-Nyirenda or Towera Nyirenda, is a Malawi netball international and a Malawi women's football international. As a netball player she represented Malawi at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011, 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cups. Jodi-Ann Ward (born 1 September 1994) is a Jamaican netball player who plays in the Australian Suncorp Super Netball league for Giants Netball. She has also represented the Jamaica at an international level since 2017. Career Ward made her international debut in late 2017 against Barbados at the age of 22. She was also selected for the Jamaican netball team to take part at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Ashleigh Brazill (born 29 December 1989 in Campbelltown, New South Wales) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Fremantle Football Club in the AFL Women's. She previously played netball for the Collingwood Magpies, and Australian rules football for the Collingwood Football Club, playing both sports concurrently. Ama Agbeze (born 12 November 1982) is an England netball international. She was captain when England won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2019 she received an for her services to netball. She was also a member of the England team that won the bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Lefébre Rademan (born 22 August 1996) is a South African netball player, who has represented the national team. At club level, she plays for Severn Stars in the British Netball Superleague (NSL), and has previously played for Celtic Dragons and London Pulse in the NSL, as well as Free State Crinums in the South African Netball League.
