Seventh Avenue (Islamabad)
Seventh Avenue, also known as the Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi Avenue, is a signal free road located in Islamabad. It starts from the intersection on Khayaban-e-Iqbal (Margalla Road) near Islamabad Zoo, and ends at the intersection on Srinagar Highway. Seventh Avenue was built at a cost of about PKR 70 million. Recently, local traffic police decided to install speed cameras on the road to check over speeding motorists. On 25 February 2017, the Capital Development Authority decided to rename the road after the late writer Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi. Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi
Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi () born Ahmad Shah Awan () (20 November 1916 – 10 July 2006) was an Urdu language Pakistani poet, journalist, literary critic, dramatist and short story author. He wrote 50 books on poetry, fiction, criticism, journalism and art. He was a major figure in contemporary Urdu literature. His poetry was distinguished by its humanism, and his Urdu ''afsana'' (short story) work is considered by some second only to Munshi Premchand in its depiction of rural culture. He was also the editor and publisher of the literary magazine ''Funoon'' for almost half a century. He received awards such as the Pride of Performance in 1968 and Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 1980 for his literary work. Gulzar, one of the most influential writers in modern India, called him his mentor and guru. Islamabad Traffic Police () is a "model traffic police force" formed under the Capital Territory Police in 2006 to "bring a new and healthy change in the traffic system" in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The Srinagar Highway (), formerly known as the Kashmir Highway (), is a major east–west highway in the Islamabad Capital Territory of Pakistan. It provides quick access through Islamabad and connects the Islamabad International Airport in the west to the E-75 Expressway in the east. Fayzabad Interchange () is a cloverleaf interchange which serves as a junction between Islamabad Highway and Murree Road in Islamabad, Pakistan. Constructed by NESPAK at a cost of Rs 130 million (£745,000), the interchange was completed in January 1998, making it the first modern cloverleaf interchange in Pakistan. Blue Area
Blue Area () is the central business district of Islamabad, Pakistan along the Jinnah Avenue. The area is a -long corridor along Islamabad's Khayaban-e-Quaid-e-Azam (also known as Jinnah Avenue), Islamabad's primary arterial road which leads up to the main government buildings. It is characterized by clean, wide roads and tall buildings among the panoramic greenery of the adjacent areas. Etymology It is called the "Blue Area", because it was represented in blue colour in the original design (master plan) of the planned city. Islamabad Highway
The Islamabad Expressway (), sometimes also referred to as Islamabad Highway, is a major north–south expressway in Islamabad, Capital Territory, Pakistan. The expressway provides quick access between the Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Punjab, connecting the national capital with the N-5 National Highway. It stretches from Zero Point Interchange with the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad to Rawat, Islamabad Capital Territory on the N-5 National Highway. The total length of the expressway is , with lanes varying from six to ten. In 2007, the Capital Development Authority proposed to build three new interchanges on the highway at Koral Chowk, Lehtrar Road and Dhok Kala Khan Road to make it signal free. However, expansion work was delayed until 2014. The expansion later included a dedicated bike lane on the highway as well. Capital Development Authority (Urdu: وفاقی ترقیاتی ادارہ, abbreviated as CDA) is a public benefit corporation responsible for providing municipal services in Islamabad Capital Territory. The CDA was established on 14 June 1960 by an executive order entitled ''Pakistan Capital Regulation''. As of 2016, most of CDA's municipal services and departments have been transferred to the newly created Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation.
