STQ is an Australian television station, licensed to, and serving the regional areas of Queensland. The station is owned and operated by the Seven Network from studios located in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. The callsign STQ stands for ''Sunshine Television, Queensland''. History The station began in the 1960s as two different operators: *WBQ-8 Wide Bay/ Maryborough, starting on 10 April 1965 *MVQ-6 Mackay, starting on 9 August 1968 The licence to operate the commercial television service for the Wide Bay-Burnett region, was awarded to Wide Bay-Burnett Television in October 1962. The company's shareholders included local radio and print media outlets as well as theatre owners Birch, Carroll and Coyle. Qintex
Qintex Limited was an Australian financial services company founded on 1 April 1975, as Takeovers, Equities & Management Securities (TEAM). Its headquarters was in Brisbane, Australia. Its main shareholder and managing director was Christopher Skase. It was renamed Qintex Limited and came to prominence in 1986, collapsing five years later in 1991. At its peak, Qintex owned interests in Channel 7, Mirage Resorts, Hardy Brothers jewellery retail concern and a number of other businesses. History Qintex was established in 1975 by Christopher Skase and his partners. Widescreen images are displayed within a set of aspect ratio (image), aspect ratios (relationship of image width to height) used in film, television and computer screens. In film, a widescreen film is any film image with a width-to-height aspect ratio greater than 4:3 (1.33:1). For TV, the original screen ratio for broadcasts was in 4:3 (1.33:1). Australian Broadcasting Authority
The Australian Broadcasting Authority was an Australian government agency whose main roles were to regulate broadcasting, radio communications and telecommunications. The Authority took over the functions of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal on 5 October 1992 as stipulated in the Broadcasting Services Act 1992. The Australian Broadcasting Tribunal took over the functions of the Australian Broadcasting Control Board in the 1970s. The engineering function in some cases was handled by the National Transmission Agency when the Postmaster-General's Department ceased being responsible for telecommunications. WIN Television is an Australian television broadcasting, Australian television network owned and operated by WIN Corporation that is based in Wollongong, New South Wales. WIN commenced transmissions on 18 March 1962 as a single television station covering the Wollongong region. The WIN Network has since grown to cover much of regional Australia. Robert Edward Brough (born 1955) is an Australian journalist, television presenter and rugby league coach. Media career Radio Brough began his media career in radio in the 1970s as an announcer at radio station 4VL in Charleville, Queensland. He then moved onto 4WK in Warwick, 4BC in Brisbane and then 4GG on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Sports Journalism Following on from his radio work, Brough moved into television in the mid 1980s, covering sport for ABC Television in Brisbane before moving over to Channel 9 to present the sports news on ''National Nine News'' in Brisbane until 1989. 7flix is an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel, which was launched by the Seven Network on 28 February 2016. 7flix targets a variety of viewers and offers drama, comedy, reality, docusoap, and movies. History On 18 December 2015, a test pattern began broadcasting on channel 76, reading "New Channel Coming Soon". Seven acknowledged the broadcast, and director of programming, Angus Ross, formally announced on 1 February 2016 that Seven was launching a new channel, and more details would be released soon.
